August 19, we received Aliyun SMS notification:

Dear Aliyun Users:

Hello!

Load Balancing (SLB) will be maintained on August 22 from 22:00 to 23rd 00:00, and the SLB service cannot be created during maintenance, and the console configuration feature is temporarily unavailable. The SLB service that has been created is not affected.

To cause inconvenience to you, please forgive! Thank you for your support of Aliyun!

At that time saw the notice said "has created a good SLB service is not affected", we do not care. The failure occurred in this SLB system maintenance, the distance from the last SLB fault less than one months time.

One of the benefits of using cloud computing is to do load balancing conveniently and cheaply, and load balancing itself is designed to avoid a single point of failure to ensure system stability, and now SLB itself becomes the source of a single point of failure.

For some problems with virtual machines, we can avoid them, such as disabling the virtual memory paging file, not using the virtual memory of the IIS application pool recycling, but for SLB, we have no control, can only "resigned to fate."
