Aliyun How to create an instance using mirrors
Mirroring is primarily used to create an ECS instance. You can increase your productivity by creating instances of the same configuration environment, based on existing instances, easily. The operating system, installed applications, and data are automatically copied to the new instance.
When using mirroring, you need to consider the following conditions for mirroring:
Location: Only mirrors from the local domain can be used. Mirroring cannot be used across geographies. You can copy the mirror to the destination region. For more information, see Copy mirrors.
Operating system: Linux or Windows.
The number of digits in the operating system: 32 digits or 64 bits.
When you purchase an instance, you can select a custom mirror, a public mirror, a market mirror, or a shared mirror.
Custom mirrors are created by yourself and can be queried and managed by the custom mirroring page of the admin console. See Creating a custom mirror.
The public mirror is an official system image provided by Aliyun, which contains various versions of Windows and various distributions of Linux.
Market mirroring is a mirror image of a customized service provided by a Third-party service provider (ISV) that contains a variety of operating system versions of the underlying environment, control Panel, and build station systems.
Shared mirrors are custom mirrors that other accounts share to you.
Operation Steps:
Log on to the Cloud Server Management Console.
First you need to create a snapshot from an existing system disk, refer to the Create snapshot.
When snapshot creation is complete, click the snapshot in the left navigation. You can see the snapshot list. Then select the region at the top of the page.
The disk properties for the selected snapshot must be a system disk, and then click Create a Custom mirror. Note You cannot use a data disk to create a custom mirror.
In the dialog box that pops up, you can see the ID of the snapshot. Enter a name and description for the custom mirror. Click Create.
Click an instance of the menu on the left. Then click the Create instance in the upper-right corner of the page.
Select the payment method, region, network type, instance, network bandwidth and other parameters. For more information, refer to the steps to create an instance in the QuickStart (Linux instance).
In the mirror type, select the custom mirror you just created.
Continue to set additional parameters, and then click Buy Now.
Confirm payment. The instance you created from the custom mirror is ready to use.
