In order to synthesize the advantage of wired and wireless two kinds of networks, many small and medium-sized Enterprises and SOHO users have used wired and wireless mixed mode LAN. However, as with the traditional wired LAN, the hybrid network will also have problems in the network Exchange, sharing and Internet. Below, the author will be for this kind of mixed network frequently occurrence of fault, introduce the corresponding solution method.
Typical failure 1: Computers in a mixed network cannot exchange visits
Q: In a mixed network, one computer has Windows 2000 installed, a wired network connection, and other computers are using Windows XP for a wireless network connection. The software, IP address is already set up, and the wireless router is turned on, but it is found that Windows XP system computers cannot access the shared folders of Windows 2000 system computers.
A: This failure is due primarily to settings in the Windows 2000 computer and to the settings of the wireless router. In Windows 2000, if the guest user is disabled, a user name and password will be prompted. To resolve this problem, first turn on control Panel → administrative tools → Computer Management, expand Local Users and groups in the Open window, and click Users. Next, double-click Guest in the right window and uncheck the Account deactivated check box in the Open Properties window. Finally, click the OK button.
In addition, open Control Panel, double-click Users and passwords, and then select the Guest username in the open window, click the Set Password button, and set a new password. Finally, click the "OK" button two times in a row.
Typical failure 2: Wireless LAN can not share the Internet
Q: In a wired and wireless hybrid network connected by a wireless router, the cable network section can use ADSL Internet. But the wireless network part of the computer is unable to share the Internet through the wireless router.
A: (1) because the cable network part of the Internet can be used to explain the ADSL modem and wireless router hardware connection is no problem. The following is to consider the network settings in the Wireless LAN problem, you need to set the IP address of the wireless network card to "automatically obtain IP address."
(2) may also be due to the improper setting of the wireless router, for example, in order to restrict the access of a computer, the IP address and port of the wireless router are restricted according to the management page. At this point, you can reopen the Admin page, click Access Control on the left side of the Administration window, and then remove the IP Access settings in the window to the right (Figure 1).
(3) In addition to the above reasons, if a wireless router or wireless network card has one side set the WEP key, and the other side is not set, or because the two sides set a different key, may also cause a failure (Figure 2).
Tip: Sometimes when the wireless LAN client is set up, you will find that you still cannot connect to the Internet, this time you can restart the wireless router and then try again.
