Among the many websites detected by pingdom, Web servers are widely used. Out of curiosity, we decided to count which Web servers are dominant among the top 100 websites in the United States. We get this information by checking the HTTP header. The 100 website is based on alexa.com.

Although Apache and IIS account for a total of 69% of the hundreds of websites, other niche web server software, including Lighttpd, has established their own base market. It is intriguing that only one of the hundreds of websites uses IIS 7, which is Microsoft.com.
