SF (San Francisco for short) is an application development platform developed in 0.2 billion with an investment of $1992 from IBM. It is the largest Java-based development platform of IBM and the core part of the IBM e-commerce application framework. During the development process, IBM has gathered the requirements and ideas of thousands of ISVs (including well-known management software vendors such as SAP and SSA) around the world to fully consider the support for commercial application development. SF is created for enterprises and software developers who want to establish business management applications. It is more suitable for general accounts, order processing, warehouse management, ERP systems and other applications. SF is component-based. It supports multiple platforms and uses distributed object technology. SF itself has more than 2000 application components and a variety of special tools to meet the needs of rapid development.
In the subsequent development, IBM has changed the development direction of San Francisco and its framework components so that they can be applied on the IBM WebSphere Application Server, become an EJB framework-IBM's latest business components for WebSphere Application Server, while San Francisco has two layers above: Common Business Object) the core business processes layer and core business processes layer are derived from the Websphere Business Component base layer and Websphere Business Component advanced layer respectively.
Although SF is no longer a product, its advanced design concepts, profound design ideas, and vast resources are not a rare reference for system analysts, especially at the front-end of SF system design, it integrates the rose of rational and provides all the Rose design models (MDL files) for all of its more than 2000 components ), these components implement input and output operations at the lowest layer to commercial applications at the highest level (including general ledger, order, and warehouse management). They are also a rare example of System Architecture Analysis and Design.
