Application of ArcGIS Temporal data--dynamic display of Typhoon center trajectory

Temporal data display is a very "charm" of the data display means, such as can be used to dynamically display the color of the changes in the 10-year population change, or with a dynamic point to show the movement of the center of the typhoon, and so on, this animation in the way compared to ordinary cartography can often get a better user experience. Recently did two small demo test the temporal data, here to share with you.

The so-called temporal data, is the attribute contains the time information of the data, the type of the field can be text type, numeric type, date type, if the text and numeric type of field writing rules are as follows:

Dynamic display of Typhoon center trajectory

Dynamic display feature space location changes over time, the storage structure is relatively simple, each row records the location of the feature at different times. If the data at hand is just a table, you need to convert the table that stores the location and time to the feature class first. For example, record the latitude and longitude of Typhoon Center at different time, you can create a feature class in Arccatalog by using the creation Featureclass from XY table in the right-click menu of the table. It is important to note that Excel cannot have objectid, otherwise it is added to ArcMap, and opening the property sheet will reveal that the table is empty.

When the feature class is loaded into ArcMap, it can be animated by simply setting it on the Time tab of the Layer Properties dialog box, as shown in. It is important to note that the display data cumulatively option, if you want to display a series of consecutive traces, you need to hook this option. If unchecked, only the points at the center of the typhoon at the current moment will be available at a time. Then click on the Open Time Slider window on the Tools toolbar to play the animation.

Finally, you need to open the time slider, set the start time and end time, and play.
