April 2017 TIOBE programming language rankings
Hack is the PHP dialect launched by Facebook in three for the first time in April 2017 to enter the top 50 of the Tiobe programming language rankings.
Hack was originally Facebook's internal project, released in 2014 and open source. As an alternative to PHP, hack combines the advantages of short dynamic language development cycles with the core features of some static languages, and also borrows some of the features of new languages, such as annotation types and generics, to set parameters for classes and methods, and also adds some common features of modern programming languages.
Facebook says there are problems with using PHP to handle some common tasks, such as occasionally invoking a method with an empty object may produce an error that cannot be captured until the program is run. Another problem is the complex API, where a common method name needs to be looked up by developers in the document. These may be just a bit annoying unless you work on Facebook that may post two code a day. Fortunately, hack is replacing all of Facebook's PHP code.
