AutoCAD Pattern Fill

The concept and function of 6.3.1 pattern filling

This is often the case when drawing graphics, such as drawing a section or section of an object, using a pattern to fill a specified area, a process called a pattern fill (Hatch). Pattern fills are often used to express the material type of an object in a cross-sectional view, which increases the readability of the graphic.

In AutoCAD, no matter how complex a pattern fill is, the system considers it to be an independent drawing object, which can be used as a whole for various operations. However, if you use the "Explode" command to decompose it, the pattern fill decomposes many independent line objects by their pattern composition. Therefore, the decomposition pattern fill will greatly increase the amount of data in the file, it is recommended that the user do not decompose it except for special circumstances.

The fill pattern drawn in AutoCAD can be associated with the boundary (associative). A dependent fill pattern is associated with its boundaries and is automatically updated to fit the new boundary when its boundaries change, but the unrelated fill pattern is independent of their bounds.

Note If you move, rotate, scale, and decompose an associated fill pattern, the fill pattern will no longer be associated with the original boundary object. If you copy it or have a copy of the Mirror, array, and so on, the fill pattern itself is still associated, and its copy is not associated.

6.3.2 Example 1 drawing bearing Sectional

Step 1 draw the boundary

(1) Create a new file according to the "ACAD.DWT" template file;

(2) Select the icon in the Draw toolbar to (10,10) as the center and draw a circle with a radius of 10;

(3) Select the icon in the Draw toolbar (drawing), and then draw a line between the dots (0,7.5), (3,7.5), (3,12.5), and (0,12.5) (without closing);

(4) Select the icon in the Standard toolbar to make all the drawings appear on the screen;

(5) Select the icon in the Modify toolbar to crop the extra lines, as shown in Figure 6-7.

Step 2 Draw the fill pattern

(1) Select the icon in the Draw toolbar and eject the boundary Hatch (bounding Pattern Fill) dialog box, as shown in Figure 6-8.

(2) in the boundary Hatch (bounding Pattern Fill) dialog box, select the Quick tab, click the button to the right of the Pattern Drop-down list box, and eject the Hatch pattern Palette (Fill Patterns Palette) dialog box.

(3) in the Hatch pattern Palette (Fill Patterns Palette) dialog box, select the STEEL item in the other predefined (additional predefined) tab, as shown in Figure 6-9.

(4) Click the OK button to return to the boundary Hatch (bounding Pattern Fill) dialog box, click the button to enter the drawing state, select any point in the boundary of the bearing section, and the boundary will appear selected, as shown in Figure 6-10.

(5) Press ENTER to return to the boundary Hatch (bounding Pattern Fill) dialog box, click the Preview button to see a preview of the fill pattern, and see that the fill pattern is too dense. So change the "Scale" item to 10 and press the OK button to finish drawing the fill pattern (as shown in Figure 6-11) and save the file with "EXAM6-1.DWG" as the name.
