Automatic calculation method of Word table formula

Sometimes you might want to do some simple calculations when editing a Word table. You can do this by using the formula Command (WORD2003) on the Table menu or the formula (Word2007) in the data group of the Layout tab of the Table tool.

　　Update fields manually at any time

Unlike Excel, which automatically recalculates results after you change cell data, the data in the related cells is not automatically calculated and updated after you change the data in the Word table. This is because the formula in Word exists as a field in the document, and Word does not automatically update the fields.

To update a field, you need to select the field, and then right-click the selected field, from the shortcut menu that pops up, click Update Field. Alternatively, when the field is selected, press the F9 key to update the field results. Also, after selecting the entire word resume form, press the F9 key to update all the fields once.

Sometimes, because you forgot to update the field results, you printed out the wrong word form and presented it to your boss. To avoid this serious consequence, you can simply set the Word table formula to automatically recalculate and update the field results. 　　1.Word 2003 Setup Process

① on the Tools menu, click Options.

② Click the Print tab, and under the Print Options heading, select the Update fields check box.

③ Click the OK button.

　　2.Word 2007 Setup Process

① Click Microsoft Office Buttons, and then click Word Options.

② Click Show, and then select the Update fields before printing check box.

③ Click the OK button.
