Azure recovery service-configure Online Protection for DPM

From System Center 2012 Service Pack 1, we can use DPM to back up protected servers and data to the Microsoft Azure backup vault.

This will provide the following benefits:

L cost reduction-the azure backup service helps reduce your total cost of ownership (TCO) by providing scalability, elasticity, and simplified storage management ).

L safe use-the azure Backup Service provides a reliable, secure, strong, and short-term off-site backup and recovery solution with extremely high availability.

L simplicity-the azure backup workflow can be seamlessly integrated into existing DPM backup, recovery, and monitoring workflows.

You can use azure backup vault to protect DPM data, such as file systems, virtual machines, and SQL databases, as well as complete and incremental backups. In Azure, storage is free to use within 5 GB per month. If it is exceeded, it is billed by usage.

Before configuring the DPM azure backup, we need to update DPM to the latest version. In this example, cu3 is updated in advance.

Create a backup vault in the azure subscription, for example.

Install azure bacup agent on the DPM server.

Follow these steps to install the agent.

After the configuration is complete, we need to export the DPM server certificate from the DPM server. The certificate must meet the following conditions:

L this certificate should be an X.509 V3 certificate.

L The key length must be at least 2048 bits.

L The certificate must have a valid clientauthentication eku.

L The certificate is currently valid and valid for no more than three years.

L The certificate should reside in the "personal" Certificate storage area of the local computer.

Then upload the certificate to the azure backup vault.

Open the DPM Management Console, select Manage, bring online, and then register azure backup.

Create a backup password.
