Backup and recovery of H3C switch configurations

During LAN maintenance, we sometimes need to back up and restore network device configurations.

I believe many network administrators use the display current command to query the running configuration information of the current Device for backup configuration, and then use ctrl + c and ctrl + v to save the information to the txt document; you can also directly Save the information by capturing the screen output.

Copy the command to the switch and run it again. This method is also feasible, but this method is not suitable when there are many configurations and complicated switches.

The following describes how to import and export the H3C Switch configuration.

The devices and software used in this experiment include: H3C S5500 Series, Cisco TFTP Server

Before the experiment, let's take a look at the specific meanings of several terms.

There are two methods to use TFTP server backup configuration:

First: Back up data on the web interface

To back up data in web mode, you must first enable the http service of the switch (enabled by default) and create the user name and password for web Logon (the permission must be higher than level 3, including level 3), and then you need to set a management IP address for the switch so that the switch can communicate with the tftp server normally.

Enable the tftp server, and enter the management IP address of the switch in the browser. 192.168.125.141 is used to open the web logon interface.

Enter the user name and password to go to the web management interface, for example:

Choose manage> device backup to go out to the device backup page, enter the IP address of the tftp server in the IP address bar, enter the name of the file you want to save in the configuration file name, and then click application, wait for a while and the backup success page appears, for example:

At this time, there is an h3c. cfg file under the root directory of your tftp software, as shown in:

The configuration recovery procedure is similar to backup. You only need to choose manage> set recovery, enter the IP address of the corresponding tftp server and the name of the configuration file to be restored, and click application.

After a period of time, the recovery success page appears, for example:

You do not need to modify the device startup item for the configuration that is restored in this way. Start the switch and run it with the new configuration.

Type 2: Command Line

Configure backup

Step 1: run the dir/all command to view the configuration file of the device.

The configuration file name here is h3c. cfg.

Step 2: Use backup startup-configuration to 192.168.125.149 aaa. cfg or tftp 192.168.125.149 put h3c. cfg aaa. cfg backup configuration file (h3c. cfg is the original configuration file name, aaa. cfg is the backup file name. If not specified, it is the same as the original file ).

The transfer is successful on the TFTP server, as shown below:

Configuration recovery

Step 1: Use restore startup-configuration from 192.168.125.149 aaa. cfg or tftp 192.168.125.149 get aaa. cfg

Step 2: run the dis startup command to view the configuration commands used for the next startup, for example:

It is found that the aaa. cfg configuration file we imported restores the running status of the previous configuration after the switch is started.

TIPS: The delete configuration is not directly deleted, but is stored in the recycle bin of the switch. You can view it using the dir/all command,

Files with square brackets are deleted using the delete command.

To delete the startup. cfg file, run the reset recycle-bin command to clear the recycle bin, or run the delete command with the unreserved parameter, that is, delete/unreserved flash:/startup. cfg. Using the reset save-configuration command will completely delete the startup configuration saved by the device.
