A group interview, also called a non-leading group interview, is now the preferred interview method for many large companies to recruit Mt, sales, and marketing positions. It is characterized by a large number of people for an interview and is more suitable for the sea, save HR time. From the group competition, what you want to show to HR is your comprehensive ability and quality, for exampleLeadership, problem analysis, communication and expression, teamwork, professional knowledge utilization, emotional control, and response.
Because it is often used, the group competition has become an issue for many people! I have accumulated some experience in cracking down on Siemens, Avon, GE, and Huawei. During the recruitment process, many students and friends asked me how to pass the group chat. I told them one by one and then another. In order to make everyone stop talking about the group,
The following describes the main types, analysis methods, and techniques of group attacks.

I. Main Types and analysis methods of group competition
(1) Openness
The open question is similar to the open questions on one side. It is to give a topic that everyone has something to say. It is generally not too professional. For example, GE has adopted "shouldn't college students be absent? "This is an open topic.
Open topic analysis is based on the multi-level "star" rule + highlights . Star Rules refer to s-situation (background and difficulties), T-target, a-action (Actions taken ), r-result (the result to be achieved). Multi-level analysis means that the cause of an open problem must be taken into account, and countermeasures or improvement measures should be taken into account. The interviewer will not care too much about what the conclusions are. The key is that interviewees can be justified and its logic is clear.
(2) Selection Problems
Multiple-choice questions will appear in the interview with Mt. The interviewer will introduce a certain background, so that interviewees can select the best candidate, location, and solution based on the background, for example, "Liu Bei and Cao, who are the best coaches of the Chinese team? "," Which one is suitable for the CEO of a multinational company? "," The new store's site selection problem, which of the three ABC locations should be selected as the address of the new store? . This type of problem is characterized by providing relevant information, which must be carefully analyzed. The general analysis method is as follows: 1. determine the selection criteria; 2. Quantify the composition factors of each criterion; 3. score each candidate (local, program, etc.) one by one, the final score is the highest.
Who is the CEO of a multinational company? "For example, the first step is to analyze the selection criteria, that is, what qualities should CEOs of multinational corporations possess; step 2 list these qualities and quantify them according to their importance (for example, quantify the following qualities by percentage: Experience (20 points), foreign language ability (10 points), and leadership ability (10 points) degree (5 points), overseas experience (5 points), team building capability (5 points), etc.); Step 3 Rates candidates based on the Quality listed above, who has the highest score is the candidate for the CEO.
(3) sorting problems
Sorting is also a very common type. Avon and Huawei I interviewed all adopt this type. The typical questions are: "Escape From desert island", "factor of success", "rescue Explorer", etc. For example, rescue explorer means an expedition is in distress. Now you are the rescue headquarters, only one person can be rescued each time. There are 15 people in total (each person's brief information will be given ^_^). We want your headquarters to determine the rescue personnel's order and determine the rescue plan in 45 minutes.
The analysis methods for such problems are similar to those for the analysis of choice-type problems. First, we need to determine the sorting principles, standards, and their importance rankings, and then analyze and sort them one by one according to the determined standards. For example, the following principles can be determined in the above example:1. Rescue of the wounded first (because there is not much medical equipment in the distress area); 2. Rescue of children, pregnant women, and foreign citizens (humanitarian principles + International Principles ); 3. If there are several persons in distress, we should consider saving one. 4. People with public offices should leave. For example, there may be mayor or county magistrate; 5. The doctor should leave (it is a doctor's daily role to save lives )..... After all these principles are taken into account, we can sort these people. The next step is simple and we will not go into detail.
(4) case analysis problems
Case Analysis problems are often used in the consulting industry or in other industries with high requirements for logic and practice. For example, "How many restaurants are needed in Guangzhou? "New Product listing problems" is characterized by a very small amount of background information. The necessary information should be gradually mined through interactions with the interviewer to solve the problem. Of course, the final results are not the most important. They mainly examine the consciousness and ability of logical reasoning, fast calculation, and active communication.
For such problems, remember to draw conclusions blindly. The general analysis method is layer-by-layer differentiation, to retreat, and actively communicate with the interviewer in case of uncertain information. How many restaurants does Guangzhou need? "For this topic, many people will be able to see it all at once and will not know where to start. To know how many restaurants there are in Guangzhou, you must find out 1. Who will eat at the restaurant? (Generally, outsiders, business people, and friends will choose to eat at a restaurant for social gatherings .); 2. How many people will eat at a restaurant? (How many outsiders are there every day? How many business people are there? How many friends are there ?); 3. What is the capacity of each restaurant? (There are usually several tables, how many people can sit at the table, and how long it will take to eat at each table ); 4. Calculate the number of hotels required in Guangzhou based on the number of diners in each house. . However, this issue is very complicated and you will encounter a lot of difficult or uncertain information during the discussion, these can be determined by proactively communicating with the interviewer and making reasonable assumptions.
2. Full-process contact and Skill Analysis
1, Role Division
First, you must know what roles you can play in a group. This is very important. Different roles have different policies. If you can grasp the roles well and contribute to the team, you can pass in the group! Generally, group roles can be divided: Leader, time-keeper, recorder, presentation speaker, and proposal-er) and other general personnel.
2, Time Allocation
Secondly, we need to find out the rough process of group competition. Generally, the Group time is 30-60 minutes. The team is required to reach an agreement on the given topic at the given time, and make a presentation at the end. When I used to lead the group by leader, the first thing I would do was to allocate time. For example, for a 45-minute interview, the approximate time allocation was as follows: 3-minute reading topic + 10-minute rotating speech + 15-minute free discussion + 7-minute presentation preparation + 5-minute presentation + 5-minute mobile time.
3. Performance your best-Analysis of roles
(1) how to do a good job of leader?
In many people's opinion, the leader is easy to pass in the group, because it has many opportunities for performance. In fact, it is not because of the high requirements of this role. It is easy to pick up the stone and hit your own feet. So how should a leader win this role and do it well?
As you think LEADER is easier to pass, many people will rush to do this role at the beginning of the group. You can use the following details to quickly determine your advantages: a. Before going into the interview, try to get familiar with all candidates and name them. B. when entering the interview room, you can take the initiative to help the interviewer, for example, pouring water and distributing materials. C. Taking advantage of some opportunities to lead the team (of course, you must have some experience ), for example, when I was interviewing Ge, I used the discount tab. This details made everyone feel very experienced, so they also assured me to do this leader.
After becoming a leader, The main task of leader is to lead the team to achieve the intended goal. First, let us know the approximate time allocation, and then the leader should quickly think of an overall idea when reading the materials within 3 minutes (note that it is a general framework and does not require details !), At the end of 3 minutes, you should first speak: "Have you read all the materials? (3 S) from the materials, we can see that the problem we encountered this time was ***, with the aim of ***. Due to time constraints, let's first make a look at the division of roles (this is not needed if we have done it before .) And time allocation. * ***** I summarized a general idea when reading the materials. Let's talk about it first. Let's take a look at some supplements and comments that we will discuss, OK? My specific idea is *****. "After that, the main thing leader does is to ensure that all team members reach an agreement and reach a consensus.
During the discussion, the leader should pay attention to the problem handling:
1) the views of some members are different from those of most Members, so they are opposed to each other. In this case, don't worry, or immediately use the principle of voting a few servers into a majority, because it is a bad strategy. In HR's opinion, as a leader, you have no persuasion ability. Remember! The correct solution can be :"I understand this classmate's ideas very well. However, due to the time relationship, our primary task now is to reach an agreement. Your opinion recorder will record it first and we will discuss it later, okay? "In this way, other team members will join you with us and continue the discussion. I met a classmate like this during the Avon interview, but he was finally knocked back by me using the method just now.
2) When an individual member has a poor ability to express himself or herself, he or she should be prompted to give a concise explanation, for example: "Does this student mean? "" Could you give me your comments in three sentences? This facilitates record by the recorder. Thank you ~ "
3) as a leader, we should take into account all the members of the team, observe the characteristics of each person, and encourage some people to speak at an appropriate opportunity. For example, when everyone has nothing to say, you can say" Dear XXX, you are ** professional. You should have a lot of knowledge on this issue. Can you tell me your point of view and understanding first? "; Some of the team members are found to be less talkative and should be given more opportunities for Ta performance, such" So-and-So students, I have seen that you have been thinking there. I believe you have a good idea. Can you tell us what you want? "(Note: This is a plus point. I have used it many times during the interview .)
(2) how to do a good job of Time-keeper?
Many people may think that this role is not good and there is no chance to do it. In fact, it is not. Generally, the time-keeper is located on the left/right side of the Leader (convenient communication ), therefore, your words and deeds are more likely to be noticed by leader and HR. A simple way to fight for this role is to bring the table in advance and then say, "I have brought my watch. I am responsible for timing everyone. ". The main task of Time-keeper is time control. At the beginning, we should determine the time allocation of each major block based on the topic, and communicate with the leader as soon as possible, then, we will introduce the time allocation under the leader's auspices.
In addition, time-keeper also has a task to help the leader move the discussion forward along the established route. For example, if someone has to talk too long and times out, he or she can kill him or her (the tone should be noted)
I remember the time allocation mentioned above mentioned a mobile time, which is also a good opportunity for time-keeper performance. For example, "We still have * minutes left. You can see if there is anything else to add, improve our solutions. "Or" now we have basically provided a solution. Let's see if we can consider it from other aspects, such as how to avoid the problems mentioned in the materials. "
(3) how to make a recorder ready?
Recorder requires the following qualities: A. Good understanding; B. Quick summary and recording . I personally think recorder is the easiest role to pass. Why? 1) recorder records the opinions of all users, so it is easy to sum up their own opinions from the points of view and show them when everyone has nothing to say; 2) recorder is the best candidate for presentation, or do not do presentation. You can also find the shortcomings in the previous discussion in the last supplement time provided by HR, and seize the opportunity to supplement. Pay attention to the following points for recorder:
A. Highlights and conciseness ---- During the discussion, everyone speaks faster and needs to quickly and accurately write down the key points of each speech (good ideas and bad ideas)
B. Cooperate with the leader to resolve conflicts and promote discussion ---- generally, the recorder is sitting next to the leader, so that it is easy to clearly indicate or pass the ideas and speeches related to the arrangement to the leader in a timely manner. If you find that an important question has not been discussed, you can properly remind the leader to guide this block. In particular, when we encounter a proposal that deviates from the topic, we can stand up and point out that it should be in line with the leader's Guiding Direction.
C. Make a concluding speech and strive for presentation
Because recorder records the entire group's views, it is easy to sum up (I am deeply touched by this, in fact, every time I do the leader myself, I will record the key points quickly !). Therefore, at the end of the discussion, recorder should take the initiative to sort out the recorded information and give appropriate praise to the team members who have made outstanding contributions. Next we can say, "This is the result of our group's discussion. The key record is here. Which of the following is going to do the presentation (if the candidate for the presentation is not determined)? I will send this record to ta. "Or do presentation on your own.
(4) Presentation Speaker (Summary declarative)
This role requires better Ability to sum up and express, of course, sound better Performance_^ for example, in the previous analysis, recorder is the most likely to be used as the presentation speaker. Therefore, if you want to be a presentation speaker, you must grasp the entire group's views from the very beginning and keep a record, we also organized the ideas of the statement while participating in the discussion.
When performing presentation, you should first pay attention to courtesy (if an interview is divided into two groups, it is best to call the other party a "friend group") and pay attention to each other, then, the voice is loud and clear, and you should try to use "we" instead of "I" in the summary ".
(5) proposal-er (author of IDEA)
This role is suitable for students with agile thinking and extensive knowledge. The main task is to propose as many ideas as possible, which matches the corporate culture of foreign companies, I personally think this role also has a lot of space to show. You can try it.
(6) Other General Personnel
Many people think that this role is very difficult to enter the next round. It is not necessarily the key to see how to behave! Some inexperienced or slightly introverted personality, it is difficult to enter the status in the fierce interview such as group competition. The following are common phenomena and solutions:
A. My head is suddenly paralyzed. I have no idea? Countermeasure ---- I am talking about the opposite, for example, "I think A has a good opinion, because *** (explaining the reasons or examples ); I do not agree with B's opinion for the moment, because ***".
B. Why can't I get a chance? Countermeasure ---- stand up or raise your hand, so that leader will take care of you.
C. make common sense mistakes or draw conclusions blindly. For example, when some people discuss the topic "saving lives in distress", they naturally think that doctors should stay with pregnant women, but is it true in real life? Have you seen so many pregnant women on the street accompanied by doctors? In addition, some people say "I think this is a problem or something", and then there is no following. Any conclusions without support are fatal. HR will only think that you are arbitrary! Therefore, remember not to commit these two "prohibitions "!
Here, you should also understand that group competition is just the same thing, just do it!
