Several file descriptions:
~ /. Newsrc
If you subscribe to a newsgroup, the file will record the newsgroup you subscribed to. For example, the content of my file is as follows:
Leisure and entertainment. Irony and humor: 1-669117,737971
Of course, if an article has been read, it will also be recorded.
~ The/. newsrc-Dribble file can be restored after the Emacs crash file (at this time, the. newsrc file is not written into the correct content. This file is automatically saved.
The following article explains the role of dribble buffer.
~ /. Newsrc. eld file, which is automatically generated. Some initial variable values are set. The newsrc. eld file is used to avoid creating. newsrc. El. The content in the. newsrc file is also saved, but there are other settings.
Do not delete this file easily, unless you want to clear the news group you have subscribed to and the history of the articles you have read .. Once you delete this file and the. newsrc and. newsrc-Dribble files, you will return to the state where you have just configured gnus.
This article details the relationships and functions of gnus startup files:
Some switches can be set to save space and increase speed, but I still cannot use them.
How to exit?
Pressing the Q key all the way will eventually exit gnus, but will not exit Emacs.
Several Concepts
Group Buffer
Alt + X then input the buffer that gnux enters into the group buffer. There is a list in it to display newsgroups and contact groups. I didn't set the contact groups, so only the newsgroups are available.
9: nndoc + gnus-help: gnus-help
*: Nndraft: queue
*: Nndraft: drafts
Aa can list the newsgroups on all servers, and press L to return to the initial screen of the group buffer. Move the contact list to a newsgroup. Then u can subscribe to this newsgroup, and then press u to cancel the subscription. CTRL + k is the real Unsubscription. Two times U is just a soft Unsubscription.
Server Buffer
Press shift 6 (^) from the group buffer to enter the Server Buffer. This shows the list of newsgroup servers we configured in. gnus. El.
{Nnfolder: Archive} (closed) (agent)
{Nndoc: gnus-help} (opened) (agent)
{NNTP: news.newsfan.net} (opened) (agent)
The logic here is a bit reversed. In fact, each server manages multiple newsgroups. Users should first enter a server through the Server Buffer, then select a newsgroup on the server to enter, and then view the article. At the beginning, gnus assigned a basic newsgroup and contact group. You can also view all groups through AA for ease of use.
Browse Server Buffer
The buffer in the list of news groups displayed after entering a server is called the Browse Server Buffer. The name is a bit strange.
Select a newsgroup and enter. The number of threads in the list of some articles in this group is determined by the number entered at the time of entry. Generally, 200 is used. This buffer zone is called summary.
Select an article and a buffer below will display the article content, which is called Article buffer.
Thread
It is actually a tree connected by articles. For example, a posted a post 1, B replied to 1, which is called 2. c replied to 2, which is called 3, and D replied to 1, which is called 4. This tree is called thread.
Move the cursor to the root of the thread and type at. The title of the latest article on all threads is displayed.

Now that we understand these concepts, we can use them more smoothly.
