The Relationship Between WiMax and WiFi is not in the same category. WiFi is a standard IEEE802.11x-related interoperability organization of the wireless LAN, wiMax is a standard IEEE 802.16x-related interoperability organization for wireless MAN. The two are applicable to different application types.
Compared with WiFi, WiMax has better physical layer and MAC layer technologies, higher speed, better QoS, and competition. Wi-Fi is mainly used in the wireless LAN field, while WiMax is mainly used in the wireless MAN field. There is a complementary relationship between the two. It can be considered that WiFi is more suitable for indoor use in the city, while WiMax is more suitable for outdoor use in the city.
The Base Station BS provides an IEEE 802.16d-compliant air interface to connect the terminal station SS to the network.
