Build a distributed three-layer Campus Network

As a key School of Xinyu, Xinyu College has always been aiming to achieve modern teaching. To this end, it has laid optical fiber cables between buildings on campus, in addition, we chose the smart campus network solution based on the distributed three-layer network of omnidirectional companies to build campus networks. Compared with the centralized layer-3 core switch, the distributed layer-3 architecture can be managed on each grass-roots network, which greatly reduces the backbone burden and provides a balanced network management capability, this solution avoids the stacked, large-capacity, high-back-board bandwidth, and expensive network architecture with a centralized three-layer core switch network architecture.

Network Construction Principles

1. High-speed network connection: the Core of the campus network is the network for teachers and students inside the campus. Therefore, the LAN in the campus is the focus of the system construction. Due to the large number of teachers and students involved in network applications, in addition, the information contains a large amount of multimedia information, and high-speed network connection is an essential prerequisite.

2. diversified information structures: Campus Networks must meet application needs at different levels, it can be divided into multimedia applications (Internet access, multimedia teaching, e-library, video on demand, school website, internal e-mail, etc.), Information Management (score statistics, file management, etc) and Remote Communication (external dial-in, remote interconnection, etc. Due to the complex data composition, different types of data have different quality requirements for network transmission.

3. good scalability: the first factor to consider when setting up a campus network is the sustainable scalability in the next five years, the use of layer-3 switches conforms to the needs of the current school network and meets the needs for the improvement and upgrade of the overall network in the future.

4. Security and Reliability: the campus network contains a large amount of important data about teaching and file management. Whether damaged, lost, or stolen, it will bring huge losses to the school. In terms of security, the school adopted a firewall to divide the campus network into two parts: internal and external, so as to avoid violations of core servers on the Intranet. Considering that there are many network devices and the structure is complex, the network management software of the same manufacturer can manage the devices in more detail, enhancing the reliability of network applications.

5. easy operation and management: the campus network is intended for teachers, students, and office staff of different levels of knowledge. The application and management should be simple and easy, and the network management software should be fully Chinese, user-friendly, and easy-to-use, not too professional.

6. High Cost Performance: the school has limited investment in network construction. Therefore, it is required that the built network be economical and practical. manufacturers with high cost performance and strong after-sales service should be considered when purchasing switch equipment; at the same time, tailored according to the actual needs of the network.
