Reality one, campus network of the Internet connection using proxy server or router mode, in order to ensure that the workstations can normally access the Internet, must be in each client to add gateway settings; Two, the school's campus network issued, generally divided into internal and external version, taking into account the campus teacher access convenience, Need to provide campus domain name resolution (such as our school internal use of www.fnzx.edu, external www.fnzx.com), so to add the campus DNS server settings in each client.
The question of the proposed
It is not difficult to add a gateway and DNS resolution address for each client at once. The problem is that the server addresses that provide the service do not change. Otherwise to adjust the gateway or campus DNS resolution address, the workload imaginable.
Can you solidify all these services on a single machine? In fact, the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) service we use usually has client gateway configuration and DNS service pointing capabilities. And we usually only notice the DHCP dynamic address allocation function, and other services ignored.
If you've never used DHCP before, and you're ready to use it, you'll be prompted to configure services such as routing, DNS, wins, and more in the process of creating a new scope, no more. Below, the author has been in the campus network using the DHCP service, but did not set its gateway and DNS resolution pointing to this situation, describes how to use the DHCP server to resolve the above issues.
Solving method
In the campus network has a normal DHCP server, its address is 172.18.1.1, each client machine adopts dynamic assignment address, and the whole network is in good condition. It is now required to enable each client to interconnect with the Internet and to provide school internal DNS resolution in proxy mode. Take our school for example, the proxy server address is the 172.18.1.254,DNS server address is 172.18.1.1, same as DHCP.
1, open the DHCP Manager. Select "Start → program → management tool →DHCP". By default, there are already servers in use, such as "Centerserver.fnzx.edu". As shown in the figure.
　　　
2. In the left pane of the dialog box above, right-click Scope options, select Configure Options from the pop-up shortcut menu, and the Scope Options dialog box appears. At this point, you want to fill out the proxy Server information in the dialog data Entry section. You can fill in the server host name or IP address. So far, the required settings are complete. The DHCP server at this time not only provides dynamic address assignment services, but also bundles Proxy gateway settings and DNS services. In this way, the campus network of other clients, in the specific Network property settings, as long as the "TCP/IP protocol" set to "Automatically obtain IP address" can enjoy all the network services. If the proxy address or DNS service changes, we can simply reset it on the DHCP server to make it easier to handle.
