Texas Instrument (Ti) announced the launch of its new simplelink Wi-Fi for Iot applications? Cc3100 and cc3200 platforms. Among TI's many new, simple, and low-power simplelink wireless connection solutions for Iot applications, the simplelink Wi-Fi series is the first in the market.
Chip Description: Start your design with the industry's first single-chip microcontroller unit (MCU) with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. The simplelink cc3200 device for Iot applications is a wireless MCU integrated with a high-performance arm Cortex-M4 MCU, allowing customers to develop the entire application with a single integrated circuit (IC. With On-Chip Wi-Fi, the Internet, and robust and durable security protocols, you can achieve faster development without prior Wi-Fi experience. Cc3200 is a complete platform solution that includes software, sample applications, tools, user and programming guides, reference designs, and the Ti e2e support community. This device is encapsulated in QFN, which is easy to layout and wiring.
This application MCU subsystem contains an industry standard arm Cortex-M4 kernel that runs at 80 MHz. The device contains multiple peripherals, including a fast parallel camera interface, I2S, SD/MMC, UART, SPI, I2C, and four-channel ADC ). Cc3200 series includes flexible embedded RAM for code and data, and Rom with external serial FLASH Boot Loader and peripheral driver.
The Wi-Fi network processor subsystem is dedicated to a Wi-Fi chip over the Internet and contains an additional dedicated arm mcu, which can completely eliminate the processing burden of the application MCU. This subsystem includes 802.11 B/G/n RF, baseband, and Mac with a powerful encryption engine to support 256-bit encryption for fast and secure Internet connections. Cc3200 devices support direct connection between base stations, access points, and Wi-Fi. This device also supports wpa2 and Enterprise Security and wps2.0. Wi-Fi on-chip Internet includes embedded TCP/IP and TLS/SSL stacks, HTTP servers, and multiple Internet protocols.
The power management subsystem includes an integrated DC-DC converter that supports a wide range of power supply voltage ranges. This subsystem enables low-power modes such as sleep mode with RTC, requiring less than 4μa of current.
