Change the number of Excel iteration formulas
Click the Office button
, click Excel Options, and then click the Formulas category.
In the Calculation Options section, select the Enable iteration calculation check box.
To set the maximum number of times that Microsoft Excel recalculates, type the number of iterations in the maximum number of iterations box. The higher the number of iterations, the longer it takes Excel to recalculate the worksheet.
To set the maximum acceptable error between two recalculation results, type a value in the Maximum error box. The smaller the number, the more accurate the result, and the longer it takes Excel to recalculate the worksheet.
Note Solver and Univariate solver are part of a set of commands that are sometimes referred to as hypothetical analysis (simulation analysis: The process of changing the values in a cell to see how those changes affect the results of formulas in the worksheet.) For example, changing the interest rate in the amortization table can adjust the payment amount. Tools The two commands use iterations in a manageable way to get the results you want. Solver can be used if you need to adjust the values in some cells to find the optimal value for a particular cell, or you want to apply a specific restriction to one or more values in the calculation. If you know the desired result of a single formula, but you do not know the input value that the formula needs to determine the result, you can use a single variable solution.
