2. Keep the installation
This installation is used when an older version of the operating system is installed and needs to be updated to a new version, but also to retain user data on the ROOTVG
The default is to delete/(root),/usr,/var,/tmp the contents of these file systems, while retaining the page and dump two devices, also keep home/home and user-created file system
During installation, the file system listed on the file /etc/preserve.list is copied and retained, and by default only includes/etc/filesystems,/etc/swapspaces,/etc/ Resolv.conf is waiting for three files.
The modified/etc/preserve.list is saved to the floppy disk by the following command
#cd/etc
#ls./preserve.list | Backup-iqv
When the system is installed, the default search/etc/preserve.list file is in the following order: floppy disk----The/etc/preserve.list file on the installation media on the machine where the system is installed----
3. Migration Installation
In order to preserve the contents of the root volume group that already exists, and to upgrade Aix 3.2/4.2/4.3 to 5L, it is possible to migrate the installation in such a way that, in addition to not preserving the TMP file system, all other file systems, including root volume groups, logical volumes and system configuration files, are retained
To manually start the command Setup Assistant command:
#install_assist
1. Set time and date
2. Set Root password
3. Change or confirm the device used to install other software (CDROM or tape drive or local/remote etc.)

5. Configure network communication

7. Create user
8. Configure the printer
