Chinese version of Ubuntu "Kirin" features introduced

The Ubuntukylin (Kirin) 13.04 operating system was released today in Beijing. This is the first open source operating system since the founding of the CCN Open source Innovation Joint laboratory in one months. The operating system is suitable for desktop and notebook computers, with built-in weather, lunar calendar and other localized applications.

The Ubuntu Kirin version is mainly developed by CCN Open Source Innovation Joint laboratory. The laboratory was established by the Ministry of Industry's software and integrated Circuit Promotion Center (CSIP), canonical and the National Defense Science and Technology University, which was established March 27 this year.

Canonical today released the Ubuntu 13.04 version of the operating system, and the Ubuntu Kirin version is based on this system development. Ubuntukylin is scheduled to launch the 13.04 official desktop version at the time of April 25, 2013 in Beijing, synchronized with Ubuntu. The future tripartite partnership will extend from the Ubuntu desktop operating system to other platforms, including clouds, servers, tablets, smartphones.

Ubuntu China's chief representative, Yulijiang, says the Ubuntu Kylin is an officially approved version of the Ubuntu Technology Board, which is completely based on Ubuntu's open source model and is updated every 6 months. He revealed that Ubuntu Kirin, which includes more localized applications, needs to wait until Ubuntu 14.04 is released.
