Chrome and firefoxfirefox: consider stopping FTP support
In a recent report on Google Chrome testing browser, the company mentioned that it is considering removing Chrome's built-in FTP support. According to the report, only 0.1% to 0.2% of Chrome users access the FTP address every week. Once this function is canceled, apps or extensions that contain the ftp url access function will make up for the shortcomings at that time.
This kind of APP/extension will include Socket API and download API, and you need to register this kind of application/extension to process specific URL scheme, so that FTP users can experience seamless navigation in the browser.
Nowadays, all kinds of browsers support FTP, but the number of users is not large. Therefore, Google and Mozilla want to continue to provide this function for users who need it through apps or extensions. The plan is still under consideration and is not yet determined. For hundreds of millions of Chrome browsers, the number of users ranging from 0.1% to 0.2% is also considerable.
Currently, users of both browsers can directly access the FTP server by clicking the link and entering the address.
