It is best not to set a password for a laptop easily, because the boot password for a laptop is not stored in a CMOS circuit as a PC and can be cleared by discharge, currently, newer laptops Store Passwords in several logic circuits on the motherboard, and individuals cannot crack the passwords.
However, you can try the following method to remove the boot password of an older laptop.
One is to change the hardware configuration of the machine. For example, if you take down the hard disk and restart the machine, it may automatically enter the setup program and clear the boot password. Second, you can try to find a chip on the motherboard. This chip is commonly known as the 818 chip. It is generally "MC146818" with 24 pins. It can be transient to 12th feet and 24th feet for 1 second, you can also find a chip labeled "mc14069" and pin it to the ground to clear the password.
You can also use a password floppy disk to solve the problem (the password service floppy disk is generated every time you set or modify the boot password. Please save it properly ). The procedure is as follows: Insert a password service floppy disk into the drive. Press enter and the following message is displayed: Set pass again? (Y/n) Press Y to run the tsetup program and set a new password. Press n to restart the computer.
The password service floppy disk must be inserted into the drive; otherwise, it will be returned to Password =. In addition, when using the password service floppy disk, pay attention to the following two issues: If the BIOS boot priority is set to hard drive or optical drive, press the reset button and press the f key to ensure boot from the floppy disk drive. If the computer is in the recovery mode, the password service floppy disk does not work when the power is turned on. In this case, press the reset button first.
For older laptops, there is a "backdoor" in the BIOS password protection ". You can try the following methods. Prepare a formatted empty floppy disk, another computer, a binary editing software (such as Norton diskedit or utraledit 32 ).
Specific steps: Start another computer, open the binary Editor, insert the floppy disk into the drive, modify the first five bytes of the first sector of the floppy disk to: 4B 45 59 00, note that the Boot Sector is 0th slice. Do not correct it. Save the modification and now you have a key disk. Insert this floppy disk into the drive of your laptop and press reset to restart. When you are prompted to enter the password, press Enter. The system prompts you to set the password again. Press "Y" and press Enter. Then you can see the BIOS setting interface, and you can reset a new password. Figure
To ensure data security, we recommend that you install the Win2000/NT or WINXP operating system and use the NTFS format partition. In this way, system installation is better than simply setting the boot password.
Some laptops now provide fingerprint boot identification systems and other installation measures to replace the traditional BIOS password protection.
