I. Problems Found
Our school has an electronic reading room with 24 computers. When we applied for an Internet connection through ADSL, we all said that ADSL is a broadband network, but we can use it on our own. The Internet speed is always low. When many people access the Internet, I download a software that uses about 6 kbps, Which is slower than ISDN. My original connection method.
The two switches use the RJ-45 head twisted pair for Cascade connection, any interface on the switch is connected with any Ethernet port of the ADSL Router with the parallel twisted pair, the WAN port of the router is connected to the ethernet cable interface in the ADSL-Modem using a pair of cross wires dedicated to the ADSL-Modem. I tested this because the speed of accessing the Internet was not enough. I found that the speed of accessing the Internet from a single machine was very fast, and the "1" Speed of the switch was faster than the "2" Speed of the switch.
Ii. Solving Problems
In view of the above situation, I tried multiple connection methods and finally determined an optimal connection method.
Use two parallel twisted pair wires to connect the cascade ports of the two vswitches to any Ethernet port of the ADSL Router, the WAN port of the router and the ethernet cable interface in the ADSL-Modem are still connected by a pair of cross wires dedicated to the ADSL-Modem. In this way, the speed of connecting to the Internet has increased. When many people access the Internet, the download speed of a software is about 17 kb/s, which is satisfactory.
Iii. issues left over
There is a problem with the connection method: If only a vswitch is enabled without a vro, then the computers connected by the two vswitches cannot transmit data to each other. However, once this type of ADSL dedicated router is enabled, it starts to use the ADSL-Modem for Internet connection dialing (unless it enters its settings to disable the dialing function). Fortunately, this type of data transfer is not much, most of the time is used to access the Internet.
Before editing this article, the editor contacted the author ma. In the past, they used common routers, ISDN, and D-Link switches to achieve Internet sharing among more than 10 machines, because the speed of ISDN is relatively slow, I do not feel the speed difference caused by the first connection method, however, the speed difference caused by the connection method is found after using the ADSL dedicated router, ADSL-Modem, and D-link switch. For this reason, I have consulted several engineers who have been doing network installation and debugging for a long time. They cannot tell the real reason. Here, I sincerely hope you will participate in the discussion, build and maintain our campus network together.
