"TechTarget China original" container and cloud security remain the hottest two topics in the IT world. Let's discuss it in detail below. Cloud container rage is for a reason. Containers such as Docker can improve application portability and enable enterprise users to use IT resources more effectively. As a result, the container will be further developed in the business community. "The entire container technology market has exploded in the cloud," said David Linthicum, senior vice president of Cloud Technology partners at the Boston-based cloud consulting company, in a recent podcast. However, while the benefits of containers are many, developers are still waiting for new technologies to address some of the container-related challenges-such as storage. At the same time, large technology companies such as Oracle are rushing to acquire container-related startups in order to seize the first step in the market and solve such problems. In his podcast, Linthicum invited Eric Han, director of product management at Portworx company, to delve into containers and other cloud topics, Portworx is a container storage company headquartered in California State Redwood City. When it comes to storage and cloud containers, what are the challenges we face today? Cloud containers will continue to become more popular, but one of the challenges for enterprise users is managing the container environment-which includes storage resources. Enterprises tend to generate a lot of storage space during the deployment of containers, and they rely more on lengthy manual processes to manage these environments. However, software-defined storage technologies and other next-generation storage technologies can help address some of these challenges. "Kubernetes, Mesos, or Docker swarm--all of these cluster tools have actually developed different interfaces for users. and first-tier customers really want to manage at the application level and application container level. If you can better combine the two and have a storage layer that is compatible with the development steps of the container technology ..., then you can really enjoy the benefits of getting rid of a lot of manual steps ... and provide a better user experience for managers, "says Han, who previously served as a product manager for Kubernetes and Google container engines at Google Inc. Storage is just one aspect of the many changes associated with container deployment, Linthicum said. "If you use container technology, you will be exposed to many different changes. At the same time, if you try to become as efficient as possible, there will eventually be a lot of tool updates and you need to deploy a lot of new technologies. "Is Oracle's recent acquisition of Stackengine a good move?" Some people want to know why Oracle will buy Stackengine, the early start-up in the container technology market,But the move does not seem to be anything special. "In general, startups are going to be bought before they release the 1.1 version of the product. "Linthicum said. "They've just had a client and a little bit of a career boost, and suddenly they're being bought by some big companies." "Oracle is trying to seize the opportunity in the cloud container market, while Han believes it is a" smart move "to acquire Stackengine, a company that" has been thinking about container technology day in and day out as a container technology. " In general, linthicum that cloud startups should be allowed to "live in a free world" in case big businesses stifle their innovation. However, such acquisitions are usually beneficial to the technology itself, which in turn will benefit the customer a lot; it's just a question of how to find a good balance, Han says. "On the one hand you want to get money to buy innovative bonuses ... but on the other hand, you want startups to be mature and show full development prospects," Han said. Is the security of the cloud lower than traditional IT systems? Security has been one of the hottest it topics in recent years as data breaches have taken place in many cases. As people become more aware of security, enterprise users have been cautious about cloud applications and have been determining whether cloud computing is more reliable than traditional IT systems. However, in many cases, there is no data leakage event in cloud applications, Linthicum said. "Everyone is afraid that if they put their data in the cloud, they will be hacked, but it seems that most vulnerable systems are traditional systems within traditional data centers," Linthicum said. One reason cloud is more secure than on-premises systems is that cloud providers often use more advanced security technologies when developing their cloud environments, Linthicum added. The more proactively the security mechanisms use identity-based security, the more comprehensive they are managed, and the more we can monitor the ports that go into the cloud to discover potentially fraudulent activity. Looking to the future, security will probably be a major concern for a broad range of suppliers, Han said. "This is where startups will start to innovate, especially when I talk about services and service accounts." I think Active Directory's identity access management model and previous practices in the industry may not be appropriate. At the same time, I think new things may be in the 2016 or 2017, "he said.
