1, after the CD-ROM CD-ROM storage box has been closed for a long time, but could not hear the optical drive read disk sound

Analysis: The optical drive tray in and out normally indicates that the 12v voltage of the optical drive is normal, and when the CD tray is placed, the drive should have the top and bottom action of the head Seeker and the sound of the disc servo motor turning. If the sound of the disc is not read, the 5v voltage is not added.

Cause: (1) voltage instability at the moment of power-on;

(2) The host switching power supply voltage stability is not good, high voltage;

(3) The power plug of a live-unplugged optical drive causes damage to the power plug.

Workaround: Check the optical drive power interface at the safety resistor, the safety resistor similar to the general resistor, generally green, but also black, and then find the same specifications of the safety resistor replacement.

2, the disc cannot be played automatically, but can browse the CD files

Analysis: This is caused by the fact that we have disabled the AutoPlay feature of the CD-ROM in Windows XP.

Workaround:

(1) Check the AutoPlay options of the optical drive. In Explorer, right-click the drive letter where the CD-ROM is located and select Properties to open the Optical Drive Properties dialog box and switch to the AutoPlay tab. Now you can see that the AutoPlay tab has a drop-down menu, and we can use different actions for different format files. To select the Music CD option, for example: Under Actions, select the Alert me to select an action every time option, and then click OK.

(2) View related settings in Group Policy

If this setting still does not play automatically, click Start-Run, type "Gpedit.mse" and enter, and open Group Policy. On the left, expand Local Computer Policy-Computer Configuration-Administrative Templates-system, then on the right double-click Turn off AutoPlay, open the interface, select Not Configured, and then click OK to exit.

Note that in both Computer Configuration and User Configuration, there is a "turn off AutoPlay" setting, but in the case of both configurations, the computer Configuration takes precedence over the settings of user Configuration and this configuration does not prevent the music CD from being played automatically.

3, the optical drive operation sound is normal, but the long time cannot read the data, presses the eject button on the optical drive, the optical drive tray cannot eject

Analysis: According to the phenomenon of failure, it is inferred that the optical drive mechanical failure caused by abnormal control circuit. Although the drive tray can be retracted, the optical drive does not accurately receive a signal for the pallet homing-in general, the optical drive is triggered by a micro-action switch at the end of the "impact" motion slide.

Workaround: Remove the optical drive, unscrew the back of the screw, you can see the optical drive inside a total of three motors: the middle one for the spindle motor, drive disc rotation; there is a stepping motor on the edge, driving the laser head along the rails, and one is to control the optical drive in and out of the position of the motor. We have to check the status of its work. Along the running rail of the tray, a small microswitch can be found at the rear of the optical drive. Use a multimeter to check whether the switch is in good contact, if the contact is bad, you should change the same switch.

4. The optical drive cannot read the disk normally. CD into the optical drive, the first few minutes of normal, the data will not be able to read the smooth

Analysis: This failure is generally due to disassembly of the optical drive and cleaning the bald head, the operation is not standardized caused by the bald head of the flexible cable damage (such as invisible disassembly) caused by the laser signal path failure. When the head is moved to a certain position, the cable part is disconnected, the signal transmission is interrupted, the time drive will self-test to determine the failure and automatic reset.

Workaround: Find a signal cable of the same type to replace it.

5, the optical drive in the friction sound is very large and not read the disk

Analysis: This is to think that the disc drive mechanism does not produce enough clamping force, resulting in the rotation of discs caused by skidding. The vast majority of CD-ROM disk clamping mechanism are plate, that is, the CD into the CD-ROM drive, set on the front of the data surface of the umbrella wheel, and then the disc above the platen of the plastic wheel pressure on the top of the disc, a small spring behind the plate to stretch the disc arm under pressure clamping disc, then the umbrella wheel drive disc rotation Light driving after a period of time, because the spring elasticity is weakened or the spring is bent downward, will cause the pressure of the platen to reduce, clamping plate.

Solution: (1) Gently fold the disc arm downward, or the disc arm at the root of the small spring out elongated and then loaded on it.

(2) as a temporary emergency measures, we can put on the CD-ROM CD on top of a CD, so that the disc becomes "thick."

6. Prompt "Disk drive read error" After inserting disc in optical drive

Analysis: This error usually occurs because the system cannot read the contents of the disc, it may be a dirty disc, or it may be scratched on the disc, or the disc is distorted.
