Installation
The installation of these two Linux systems is similar, but the unique wubi installation of ubuntu gives a lot of extra points.
I personally feel that Ubuntu has so many users that it is closely related to wubi. As far as I know, most of the users who choose Windows and Linux for dual systems are Windows 7/XP + ubuntu. This shows that wubi is easy to install and is compatible with windows. In contrast, if fodora needs to coexist with windows, grub configuration is required, which makes it difficult for many users to lose Ubuntu at the starting point.
Interface
I used Ubuntu 10.10 In the past. I personally feel that this version has excellent stability, speed, and user experience. When Ubuntu 11.04 was released, even if the outside world commented on its unity interface, I still had no temptation to upgrade to 11.04.
When the system really enters, I am completely dumbfounded. What is this? Where is my taskbar? Where are my various software? Where is my system menu? For users who are used to gnome2, this change is too big to get used to for a while. After an hour of hard work, everything is on the right track.
Advantages of the Unity interface:
1. Brand new sidebar. It is very comfortable to use.
2. Integrate the application interface with the taskbar above to maximize screen utilization.
3. The interface is much more elegant than gnome2, and it is quite useful for people who are pursuing the appearance.
4. The new program icon organization method facilitates searching.
Insufficient unity interface:
1. The video card must support 3D. Otherwise, you must download unity 2D to make up for it.
2. Users like me who have fixed the CPU frequency, CPU usage, and task manager on the taskbar for a long time are not used
3. The previous menu bar changes greatly, making gnome2 users feel inconvenient to use.
As for fedora 15, I was unable to withstand various bugs in Ubuntu 11.04 and installed it. After installation, the system is started. First, the eyes are bright. The consistent design style of Fedora continues in this version. With the unity interface experience, gnome3 was quickly started. I have to say that on the interface, fedora 15 is far behind Ubuntu 11.04, and its user experience is very good, it is very suitable for my operation habits.
Advantages of the fedora 15 interface:
1. Continued the consistent characteristics of fedora, with a very beautiful interface
2. Integrate Wikipedia and Google directly on the program manager for convenient use.
3. The dynamic increase and decrease in the work area is very user-friendly
The fedora 15 page is insufficient:
1. By default, there are no minimization or maximization buttons, and you need to change them yourself.
2. When the program is opened too much, the interface response speed will be affected.
3. Difficult to install the UI theme
Software
Ubuntu comes with a wide range of software. Even if you don't install any software, it can satisfy most of your needs. Different from fedora, it may be the version I installed, my version is basically just a framework, and I need to install everything myself. Even libre office is not integrated.
From the perspective of software installation, the Ubuntu software manager is very powerful and fast, but the fedora software manager is very slow, which is unbearable. Also, when I updated fedora, I found that the graphic interface could not be updated. Instead, the problem was solved after the command line update. This bug was quite unpleasant.
Stability
In terms of stability, I personally think that fedora is better. There are too many bugs in unity, and often it is suspended. The most important thing is that there are still problems with my USB mounting. As soon as I plug in a USB flash drive, the CPU usage will reach 100% immediately, in addition, the new feature cannot be identified if it is not restarted after unplugging. For feodra, in a purely accidental opportunity (incorrect command input), press ALT
+ Inputting system-Monitor (the correct one is gnome-system-Monitor) in F2 will cause gnome3 to be suspended. No other problems have been found yet.
Efficiency
In terms of efficiency, Ubuntu's unity is obviously weaker than the gnoora using gnome3, and its CPU usage has been relatively high. As for the efficiency of software use, it is difficult to evaluate it because of the dedicated comparison.
Conclusion
In fact, the differences on the interface are removed. These two systems are not much different in use. Which of them is a matter of personal preferences. If you like to use fedora 15 for a better UI, you can use Ubuntu for a simpler UI. Of course, if you want rethat authentication, it is better to use fedora. After all, it belongs to rethat.
