If a third-party email platform is used in our project development, this is definitely not the best choice, because third-party emails require Internet support, but the Internet is not particularly reliable, if there is a problem with the Internet connection, it will not be necessary to delay our construction period. In addition, many projects are classified and can only use the Intranet during development. But no email. To solve this headache, our intranet mail server tool appears. You only need to install it on our server, configure your account, and configure the client, emails can be sent at will in the intranet. Server Construction

Software Download

With the help of third-party software hmailserver, you can easily build an intranet mail server.

To install the software, Microsoft. NET Framework Version 2.0 is required:

Software Installation

Install. NET Framework 2.0 first.

Install hmailserver:

If there are not many users, I will directly use the built-in database engine. If there are many users, you can select one of the following MySQL, MSSQL, and PostgreSQL databases.

Here, you need to set the password of the hmailserver console. After the password is set, you need to record it.

Click Next to complete the installation.

When we connect to the console, we need to enter the previous password.

 

Localization

Skip this step if you do not need to perform localization.

Hmailserver is simplified in Chinese, as follows:

1. Copy the Chinese. ini file to \ ages under the hmailserver installation directory.

2. Edit the \ bin \ hmailserver. ini file, and add "Chinese" to the validages item in the [guilanguages] field"

3. After the change, remember to restart the service to make the language take effect.

 

4. Go to the management interface, select "selectlanguage" in the "file" menu, select "Chinese", and reconnect to the interface. The interface becomes Chinese ,, so far, our installation settings have been successful.

Server Configuration

Next we will officially go to the relevant settings of the mail system.

Add a domain first. If you are in the domain environment, you 'd better fill in your domain name. I will test it in the Working Group environment here.

 

If necessary, you can change the limits, such as the space used by the domain, the maximum size of the email, the maximum user space, and the number of users. For example, if the hard disk only has 60 GB space, each user has 1 GB space, the maximum email allowed is 30 MB, which puts too much pressure on the server. We can set the limit as shown in the following figure.

Next, we need to create an account for the user, enter the user name and password, and save the account. Remember to set the user space to be saved as it does not exceed 1 GB, because we have made the above restrictions.

You can also set personalized signatures for users.

Log Settings

Enable SMTP, POP3, and IMAP logs on the "log" option on the server. If there is a problem, the logs will be automatically generated. Here we only need to check the logs, click view log to analyze the cause

 

Client Configuration

On the mail client, we can use Foxmail or outlook. Here I use Foxmail, because Foxmail is a green software.

The installation is simple and I will not talk about it anymore. The account setting Wizard will appear when I run it for the first time. Enter the created email account and password.

I am not in a domain environment and have no DNS settings. Therefore, the name cannot be resolved. The server receiving and sending here can simply fill in the IP address of our server.

The old foxmial version does not have a domain suffix by default. here we need to manually add it

If the domain suffix is not added, "Next" is followed by an account setting test option. If we click test, the following error is reported.

After the settings are correct, you can pass the test. In this way, the account is successfully added.

After the setting is successful, let's test the email sending function.
