You might want to animate the objects on a PowerPoint slide to perform certain special actions-for example, to increase the visibility of the logo as it moves on the slide. Even though the animated large library in PowerPoint doesn't have the effect you want, you can create your own effect! Create your own effects by merging two or more animation effects, or by drawing an action path.
tip animations are fun, but sometimes too much animation can backfire. Many presentation experts recommend careful use of animations and sound effects, because too much animation distracts attention. You don't want viewers to ignore you because they watch the moving stuff.
Merging animation effects
When you use more than one animation effect for a single object or slide, we recommend using the Animation pane. Click Animation > advanced Animation > Animation pane to open it.
Click the object on the slide you want to animate.
On the Animation tab, use the animation library or add animation to apply the effect to the object that you clicked.
Click Add animation to add another effect. If you do not use Add animation , the new effect is not added, but the applied effect is changed.
Use the Animation pane to change the order of effects, and the timing Group on the Animation tab to reconcile the start time and duration of each effect.
In start , select the same as previous animation to run concurrently with another effect. Select After previous to start the effect when another effect finishes.
To see how all of these animations work, click Preview on the Animation tab.
Apply motion Path
Click the object to which you want to add the action path. The object or text center follows the action path that you applied.
On the Animation tab, click More in the animation gallery
, and under action path , do one of the following:
Click line , arc , turn , shape or " loop ". The selected path appears as a dashed line above the selected object or text.
The green arrow indicates the beginning of the path, and the red arrow indicates the end. Drag either end to place the endpoint where you want it.
Click Custom Path . When you click the start position of the desired motion path, the pointer changes to a cross type
。
draw the path to the line where you want the motion path to begin. Move the pointer and click to create a row between the two click Points. Move and click again to draw another row. Double-click to stop drawing lines.
draw a hand-drawn path Click where you want the action to begin. Hold down the left mouse button and move the pointer over the path you want the object to follow. Double-click the final endpoint of the action.
To see how all of these animations work, click Preview on the Animation tab.
Building an example
Let's take a star and get into the line of sight, like sliding through the slide, and shaking slightly before it falls into the slide, like it's on the table.
Click Insert > shape , and under stars and Banners , click the Star shape. Drag and drop on the slide to draw the star type.
Click the Star to select it, and then under enter in the animation library, click Fly in. On the Animation tab, click Effects Options > from left . In the timing Group, set duration to 01:50.
Click Add Animation , and under enter , click Fade in. In the timing Group, set start to same as previous (so that the effect runs at the same time as the fly effect) and set duration to 01:00.
Click Add Animation , and under emphasis , click Seesaw . In the timing Group, set start to after previous (so that the effect starts immediately after the entry effect completes). Notice that in the Animation pane , the Seesaw effect (yellow) is aligned with the entry effect (green).
Click Add Animation , and under emphasis , click Pulse . In the timing Group, set start to same as previous (so that the effect runs with the seesaw effect).
Click Add Animation , and under motion path , click Arcs , and then click Effects Options > right . In the timing Group, set start to after previous , and set duration to 01:00. \ \ Drag the endpoint (red arrow) so that the star is just below the bottom of the slide.
Last step: Click Add Animation , and under enhanced , click Rotate , and then click Effects Options > clockwise , and then click Effect Options ">" half rotation . In the timing Group, set start to same as previous .
