Microsoft's surface RT is a great device, but there is a problem. If the operating system collapses and surface RT does not have a DVD or CD drive and no media installed, how do we recover the operating system from the error? Thankfully, this guide will help people with small storage (minimum 4GB) create a Surface RT recovery disk.
1. On the "Start" screen, click on the desktop tiles, open the Windows desktop;
2. Slide your finger and click the "Settings" icon in the Charms bar on the right side of the screen.
3. When the "Settings" pane appears, gently point to its top side of the text control Panel;
4. In the "Desktop Control Panel", click on the "System and security" area, and then click "File History" (History);
5. In the File History window (shown above), click "Restore" (Recovery) in the lower-left corner. Then, when the Recovery window appears, choose to create a recovery disk.
Once you have finished creating the recovery disk, you can insert it into your surface RT tablet.
[Please note that this erases all data on surface RT!]
1. Close your surface and insert the recovery disk into the USB port on the surface RT plate;
2. Hold down the "lower volume" switch and press and release the "Start" button of the surface Rt.
