Create the shape of Visio and write it based on Microsoft's online help and personal experience.

 

Create shape

 

You can create a custom shape and add it to an editable mold. Your"Favorites"
The mold and the created custom mold can be edited, while the mold provided by the Visio template cannot be edited.

Note

    • The shape in the Visio mold is generally called the master shape. When you drag a master shape to the drawing page, you create a copy of the master shape (or "instance "). The master shape itself is retained on the mold, so you can reuse it to create a new copy of the master shape on the drawing page.
    • The Visio master shape provided by Microsoft Corporation is copyrighted. You can copy and re-organize for your own use, modify the master shape for your use, and distribute a drawing containing the master shape. You cannot sell or distribute original or modified Visio master shapes.

To create a new shape, perform the following operations:

    1. Open a new mold, your"Favorites"
      Mold or the created custom mold.

Location of favorites, C:/Documents and Settings/user name/My Documents/my shape

    • To open a new mold, go"Shape"
      Window, pointing"More shapes"
      And then click"New Mold"
      .

    • To open a custom mold, go"Shape"
      Window, pointing"More shapes"
      , Click"My shape"
      And then click the name of the mold.
    1. If the mold cannot be edited, right-click the mold title bar and click"Edit Mold"

The icon in the mold title bar is changed
(Indicates that the mold can be edited ).

    1. Right-click the mold window, and then click"Create a master shape"
      .
    2. In"Create a master shape"
      In the dialog box, specify the shape feature.
    3. Click"OK"
      .

An empty shape icon is displayed in the mold.

    1. Right-click the new shape and click"Edit master shape"
      And then click"Edit master shape"
      .
    2. Create a custom shape.

Creating custom shapes is the same as creating a shape on a regular drawing page: Using shapes in different molds, using drawing tools
Draw shape or apply from anotherProgramPaste the object.

    1. Close the custom shape drawing window. When you are prompted to update the custom shape, click"Yes"

    2. To save the changes, right-click the mold title bar and click"Save"

Create, save, and share a custom mold

A mold (. VSS file) is a collection of shapes associated with a specific Microsoft Office Visio template (. VST file. You can create a new mold to store frequently used or desired shapes. After creating a new mold, you can save it for future reuse or sharing with others.

Create a new mold
    1. In"Shape"
      Window, click"More shapes"
      And then select"New Mold"
      .
    2. In"Shape"
      In the window, right-click the new mold and select"Save"
      .
    3. Enter a name for the mold, and then click"Save"
      .
      By default, the custom mold is saved in the my shape folder.

Create a New Mold Based on the existing Mold
    1. Open the mold to be copied.
      To learn how to open a mold, see organize and find shapes in the shape window

    2. Right-click the mold and select"Save"
      .
    3. Enter the name of the new custom mold, and then click"Save"
      . The new custom mold will appear in"Shape"
      Window.
    4. Make any changes to the mold.

    5. To save the changes, right-click the mold title bar and click"Save"

Add shape to custom mold
    1. Open the custom mold to which you want to add a shape.
    2. Drag a shape from another mold or drawing page to a custom mold. The new Master shape is added to the mold.
    3. To edit the name of the master shape, right-click the shape and select"Rename the master shape"

    4. Type the name of the master shape, and then press Enter.

Note

    • To add a shape to a custom mold, the mold must be editable. If the icon in the mold title bar is
      The mold can be edited. To edit a custom mold, right-click the mold title bar and click"Edit Mold"

Add a shape from the drawing page to the mold
Open a new mold, your "favorites" mold, or other previously created custom mold:
To open the mold, point to shape on the File menu, and then click New mold ".
To open a custom mold, point to "shape" and "my shape" in the "file" menu, and click the name of the mold.
If the mold cannot be edited, right-click the mold title bar and click Edit mold ".
The icon in the mold title bar changes from (indicating that the mold is read-only) to (indicating that the mold is editable ).

On the drawing page, select the shape to add to the mold.
Perform one of the following operations:
To move a shape from a drawing to a mold, drag the shape from the drawing page to the mold.
To copy the shape, hold down the ctrl key and drag it to the mold.
The shape is now on the mold. This shape is displayed as an icon marked with "Master shape. X", where X is a number.

To rename a shape, right-click the shape icon, point to "Edit master shape", and click "Master shape properties ". In the "name" box, type a name.
To save the changes, right-click the mold title bar and click Save ".

Copy a shape from one mold to another
Open the mold that contains the shape to be added to another mold:
On the File menu, point to shape, and then to my shape or other folders containing the mold.
In the mold that contains the shape to be copied, right-click the shape and point to "add to my shape ", click favorites, add to new mold, or add to existing mold ".
To open a mold that contains the copied shape, point to the shape on the File menu, and then to my shape or other folders that contain the mold.
NOTE: If both Molds can be edited, you can copy and paste the shape from one mold to another without using the "add to my shape" command.
