Prepare required tools and software
※S & R & S_V9.5.1118 SMART system encapsulation Tool
※Deploy. CAB (included in the system installation CD: \ SUPPORT \ TOOLS directory)
※Ghost_v8.0 & v8.2 (only v8.0 or later can support NTFS partitioning)
※Windows 2 k/XP/2003 system installation disc (activation-free version is recommended)
※Dllcachemanager_v1.0 (Dragon empire private edition) Dllcache backup and restoration Tool
2. Install the Operating System
Install the operating system normally and install the system security patch (you must install it on the C drive and cannot install it on other partitions unless you are the entire hard drive Ghost ). The operating system can be installed in the FAT32 and NTFS file formats. We recommend that you use the FAT32 File Format (do not be lazy and be sure to format it completely to prevent disk corruption ), because Ghost has a higher compression ratio for FTA32, it can reduce the size of the created backup file. Another problem is that the FTA32 format can be converted to NTFS after recovery, while the conversion of NTFS to FTA32 is troublesome. Therefore, the FAT32 file format is more flexible. Of course, if you carefully read the difference between FAT, NTFS, NTFS, and Convert NTFS in MS, you should know that native NTFS has more advantages in performance and file fragmentation than the converted NTFS, therefore, it is recommended that you use the NTFS file format to install the operating system ("native" refers to the partition that is formatted directly using the NTFS file format, rather than Convert conversion ).
For Windows XP, system activation is an important issue when making a universal clone, because Windows XP adopts an activation mechanism to prevent piracy. When the hardware changes, the system requires re-activation. Therefore, we recommend that you use a Windows XP version that does not need to be activated, such as an authorized version of a large enterprise.
3. Install Application Software
Install and register the required applications, such as Office and Winrar.
Note: After the system is re-encapsulated using sysprep, the system will restore the settings of the Input Method to the default system status when the system is restored, the newly installed input method before encapsulation is not displayed in the language bar. You must manually add it again. For this reason, the Windows XP system can make the following settings before system encapsulation: Open the control panel, double-click "region and language options", and select "advanced ", in the "Default User account settings" box, select "apply all settings to the current user account and default user configuration file", and click "OK ", in this way, the input method settings in the language bar are added to the default configuration file of the system. After the system is re-encapsulated, the newly installed input method can be automatically added to the input method list in the language bar when the installation is resumed.
4. Install the S & R & S_V9.5.1118 SMART system encapsulation Tool
Double-click the S & R & S_V9.5.1118 SMART system encapsulation tool and click "Next". It will automatically create the sysprep folder in the root directory of the current system partition. Then DEPLOY in the \ SUPPORT \ TOOLS directory of the system installation disc. decompress the CAB file and copy it to the sysprep folder (the files in this directory and directory are automatically deleted when the installation is started for the first time after the system is encapsulated ).
5. Install the DllCacheManager_V1.0 (Dragon empire private edition) Dllcache backup and restoration tool (optional)
Decompress the dllcachemanager.rarfile, and then copy the dllcachemanager.exe and ZProgBar. ocx files to the % systemroot % directory (the XP system is the C:/windows Directory and the 2 K system is the C:/winnt directory.
Autohal.exe automatically calls DllCacheManager to perform backup and recovery and delete itself after the dllcachemanager.exe is installed to back up the Dllcache directory file. If it is not used with S & R & S, you need to run DllCacheManager to manually restore and then delete yourself; or in the related batch processing files (such as Sysprep. in the inf file, add the DllcacheManager/restore/autodelete/timeout item to the command that is run for the first time after the system is started. You can also extract the dllcachemanager.rar file to any location in the current system partition. After running DllCacheManager.exe, select "automatically delete upon recovery" or "delete yourself upon recovery" to back up the file, the backup can be automatically restored and deleted at the next system startup.
Ii. system weight loss (optional)
To reduce the time required for Ghost to restore the image backup file, or install as much software as possible on a CD, you need to make the Ghost backup file small enough, therefore, we need to perform a series of weight loss tasks on the system. Of course, if you don't mind the size of the Ghost backup file, there is no need to lose weight on the system.
1. Disable System Restoration
Open the control panel and double-click system ". On the System Properties panel, select "System Restore", select "Disable System Restore on All Drives", and click "OK ".
The System Restoration function of Windows XP occupies a lot of disk space, so you must disable it to reduce the system size. After System restoration is disabled, the contents in the System Volume Information directory under the root directory of the System partition will be cleared immediately. Therefore, you can enable this function after System restoration is disabled.
2. Disable System sleep
Open the control panel, double-click "power options", select "Sleep", remove the check box before "enable sleep", and click "OK ". At this time, the page file hiberfil. sys under the system partition C root directory will be automatically deleted.
Similar to system restoration, the sleep function of Windows XP occupies a large disk space. The sleep function occupies the same size as the physical memory.
3. Transfer the virtual memory page file
Open the control panel, double-click "system", select "advanced" in the System Properties panel, click "Settings" in the performance box, and select "advanced ", click "change" in the virtual memory box, select the current system partition C, and then select "Custom size" to set the initial size and maximum value to "0 ", select the partition for storing the page file (such as D:) and click "set" and "OK ".
Virtual Memory Page file Pagefile. sys is generally located in the root directory of the system partition. Its default size is 1.5 times the physical memory, which is a stubborn hidden file that is difficult to delete, therefore, it is best to move it to a partition other than the system partition to reduce the volume of the system partition.
If you use a Ghost of v8.0 or later to clone the system, you can skip this step because Ghost of v8.0 or later can automatically delete the pagefile page file of the virtual memory when creating the image file. sys.
4. Clear disks and delete temporary system and IE files
※Run the disk cleanup program to delete temporary system files.
Start-Program-accessories-System Tools-Disk Cleanup-select drive-OK-Disk Cleanup-Select Delete file-OK.
※Delete temporary IE files and history records
Open IE-tools-internet Options-General-delete Cookies (I)-OK-delete files (F)-OK-delete history (H)-OK-OK.
※Delete recently used document records
Start-set-taskbar and [start] menu (T)-[start] menu-[start] menu (S)-custom (C)-advanced-clear list (C) -OK.
5. Use DllCacheManager to back up the DllCache directory file (dll file)
This step must be completed after system encapsulation.
Using DllCacheManager_V1.0 (Dragon empire private edition) to back up the DllCache directory file can reduce disk space usage by about MB.
