First, Office software tools

In recent years, based on the X Environment Office software has been rapid development, performance, kind of the Windows platform on the Office software, previously only in Windows can be done, now FreeBSD can also be completed. In addition to the familiar StarOffice, OpenOffice and other large office suites, FreeBSD also has a number of small office software, they inherit the characteristics of UNIX, often only focus on solving a problem on one side, so these software is most effective and practical.

1.abiword── simple and practical word processing software

AbiWord is a Microsoft Word program similar to the Free word processing tool, which is small but powerful and very suitable for processing documents, letters, reports, memos and other common Office documents, as shown in Figure 7. AbiWord is open source software and part of Abisource Office suite. AbiWord's extraordinary features not only provide a powerful word processing function for free, and its open source free architecture model can easily compile the source program into an application that can run under any operating system, it is supported by any language version of the operating system, and it supports the doc file format produced by word.

2. Star Translation King--Small and small English-Chinese dictionary

3.gnumeric──gnu e-Form

Gnumeric is an integral part of the GNOME desktop environment and is a free spreadsheet software with open source code, and its interface is very similar to Excel, as shown in Figure 9. 4.ghex── Hex Editor

Everyone must be very impressed with the UltraEdit Editor in Windows environment, right? Similar software is available on the FreeBSD, and a GNOME environment provides a ghex editor that displays and edits files in hexadecimal.

The entire window of the Ghex is divided vertically into two parts, with the left half displaying the contents of the specified file in hexadecimal bytes, and the right-hand half displaying each byte in ASCII characters, which cannot be displayed with "."
