Crowdsourcing testing is changing game rules)

Crowdsourcing is a process in which a large number of people in the community are requested to complete a task. Traditionally, such a task is done by a group of people in the organization, most of them are employees or contractors. Crowdsourcing testing is a powerful combination of networks and cloud economics by leveraging the effectiveness and efficiency of crowdsourcing. Can this be a game rule changer?

Israel Gat mentioned that the software testing process can be divided into two parts:

● Unit testing by the development team

● Other forms of testing include functional testing, load testing, regression testing, and availability testing.

Israel says the latter is where the game revolution is, and a specialized software testing company is taking advantage of the Internet and the masses. According to the definition of the test, crowdsourcing testing itself is very suitable for processes like Kanban.

As defined, testing, as a service, involves transferring tasks from one party to the other. No matter how closely the development team works with the testing party, this is a flow process from the stage to the stage. This flow process is naturally applicable to the Kanban method.

Bob Walsh illustrates how crowdsourcing testing can win a win-win situation for the Organization. He said:

Although the masses who are committed to quality assurance all like testing, they are unique in other aspects. This is good for you! For example, a Hong Kong tester, during a test on Windows Server 2003, found that the application would crash if it attempted to read a Cantonese character file containing unicode encoding. Alternatively, Brazilian testers may find that your application depends on the glibc function when testing on the Red Hat Enterprise Edition Linux3, which is only available in Linux4 or later versions.

Similarly, Yvette Francino mentioned the reasons for the existence of the crowdsourcing Test Service. Yvette said:

Today, it is almost impossible to test web-based software on numerous devices and different software configurations. In addition, if the software is to run anywhere, there may be many differences and there will be significant obstacles to using traditional testing methods. How can code tests be effectively performed in each geographic region? The best candidates for testing software are local people in the country who are most likely to become end users.

Stanton Champion summarizes several benefits of crowdsourcing testing:

● Access to different platforms, languages, and people

● Getting insights from the real world is not just from the test case results

● Tests are completed by hundreds of people at the same time

● Instant feedback

Fred Beringer has a similar view. He says he is a fan of crowdsourcing. Crowdsourcing testing helps solve the problem:

● More flexible and different hardware environments are needed, mainly for consistency testing and performance testing.

● Appropriate and flexible testing capacity needs to be ensured to respond to pressing release schedules.

Therefore, crowdsourcing testing seems to be an interesting concept that helps organizations leverage the power of the public. As Israel said:

If the crowdsourcing test is really favored (I believe it will), it will accelerate the deconstruct process and rewrite the product delivery process accordingly.
