2018 is approaching. How will the technology of data centers develop in the New Year? Jeff Klaus, general manager of Intel's data center solutions company, predicted and analyzed this:

Looking forward to 2018, what do you think is the biggest trend of data centers?

Klaus: as people know, one of the biggest trends affecting data centers is the ever-changing hybrid cloud environment. In 2018, many organizations will determine which cloud environment is most meaningful to their applications and begin to take action. For IT and data center managers, this means that the demand for visibility into their environments has never been so important, and the bottom line is the same: the IT and data center teams still need visibility in these environments, this allows for precise capacity planning and prediction to ensure business continuity. To achieve this, global IT and data center managers will become the backbone of advanced cloud infrastructure tools in 2018, these tools provide them with high flexibility and visibility for new hybrid cloud environments, adding another layer of complexity to their roles.

What are the challenges facing data center administrators in 2018?

Klaus: although each year it brings new technologies that must be filtered to data center managers to determine whether they need to make changes in their solutions, however, one of the challenges for managers in a year is the budget. Despite the emergence of new technologies or roles and the transformation of the IT and data center management teams, the budget will always be a pain point for the New Year. Budget constraints are too familiar to the IT team, but IT is still a challenge to carry out more work with the same or even fewer budgets.

What will people see in the data center in 2018?

Klaus: in 2018, data center operators needed to be more proactive. Without proper planning, many unforeseen events (from natural disasters to full system interruptions) will occur, and the average loss of power outages in data centers may even exceed an average of $0.75 million. This is a key task, every organization takes a proactive attitude to ensure that they have an appropriate system. If unexpected events occur, can enterprises really afford them?

Every year, there will be new difficulties and new opportunities. What is the most exciting?

Klaus: Personally, we are very pleased to see the continuous introduction of advanced technologies of cloud computing tools, which access infrastructure and influence how enterprises manage their businesses and improve their continuity and agility. New technology products provide enterprises with a brand new way to coordinate their infrastructure to meet their specific business needs. Traditional data centers that have been around for decades provide enterprises with a highly structured method that suits all backend systems.
