Database modeling template, menu display problem solution
which version are you using?
To find the version of Visio that you are using, on the Help menu, click about Microsoft Office Visio. The name of the version appears in the text line at the top of the dialog box.
- Standard This version does not include the Database Model Diagram template.
- Professional This release supports the reverse-engineering functionality of the Database Model Diagram template (that is, creating a model with an existing database in Visio), but does not support forward engineering functionality (that is, generating SQL code using the Visio database model).
- Enterprise Architect This release is included in Microsoft Visual Studio. NET 2003 Enterprise Architect, which supports a complete set of database modeling capabilities, including reverse engineering and forward Engineering).
are you using the Database Model Diagram template?
You may have opened the express-g or ORM database Diagram template, or opened a non-database template. These templates do not support database modeling features, such as the database menu, and only the database Model Diagram template supports database modeling. To open the Database Model Diagram template, point to newon The file menu, point to database, and then click Database Model Diagram.
can you see the database menu?
If Visio encounters an unexpected internal or external error,the database menu may disappear. To restore this menu, try the following:
- If Visio closes unexpectedly, restart Visio.
- On The Tools menu, click Options.
- On The Security tab, select Enable automatic events, and then click OK.
After you restart Visio and reopen the Database Model Diagram template, the database menu resumes.
