I. Summary

When using Oracle EBS, using Chinese will better understand the entire EBS process, the way to introduce the Oracle R12 Chinese patch

1. If your system supports other languages, such as Chinese, in addition to English, you will need to verify that there are no other language versions, such as the ZHS version, in addition to the generic platform version when you download the patch. If you have one, you need to download it.

2. EBS patches do not roll back like a database patch, which can be cumbersome to fail. So make sure to take a closer look at the Readme file before patching, to confirm that the required prerequisites are met.

3. To record and compare the invalid objects under the apps schema before and after patching. If a new invalid object is caused by a patch, it is considered a patch failure.

4. In the case of a patch failure, it is generally possible to open tar, which requires Oracle to resolve.

5. Before you hit any patch, set it to maintenance mode, and remember to switch back after you hit the patch!

Second, the case

Step1. Enable Maintenance Mode

Start the Environment Variables Command window, enter Adadmin, enter as needed (except for the password Manager to enter system), and go to "AD Administrator main Menu" By default, and select "5:change Maintenance mode, then select Enable Maintence mode, switch to Maintenance mode, and then exit the Ad Maintenance tool.

Step2. Use Adpatch to hit 8576725 patches

Enter the environment Variable Command window, enter Adpatch, and adadmin, in addition to enter the system's password manager, the default, the system prompts to enter the path of the patch and the driver file, respectively, enter:

The system prompts for a few workers to perform the patching task, Oracle recommends 2-4 times the number of CPUs, such as our number of CPUs is 8,oracle recommendation 16-32, I chose 16. Then it starts to install the patch.

The default patching log name is Adpatch.log. For convenience, in Adpatch's input, modify the journal name.

Step3. Install Chinese patch Pack 6678700_ZHS

Step3.1 Register Chinese in License Manager

• (1) Landing EBS with sysadmin in system administrator or system administration
• (2) Select License Manager, then click Languages
• (3) in the "Select Languages to License" table, tap Simplified Chinese, click Next
• (4) In "Select New Base Language", click Next directly (do not use Chinese as base Language, there will be trouble)
• (5) See the following settings in the Summary screen, click Submit

Step3.2 managing multi-language table functions in Adadmin

• (1) In the Environment Variable Command window, enter adadmin
• (2) Select "4. Maintain Applications database Entities menu "
• (3) Select "3. Maintain multi_lingual Tables "
• (4) The system will start compiling the relevant multi-language table functions until completion.

Step3.3 Running Adpatch

Hit 6678700_ZHS Chinese patch pack and hit the same as other patches.

• (1) Closing the application layer
• (2) adadmin Enable maintenance mode
• (3) In the Environment Variable Command window, enter Adpatch
• (4) The system prompts to enter the path of the patch and driver file: F:\stage12\6678700_ZHS u6678700.drv
• (5) Enter the number of workers, the system will start the Chinese language patch installation process.
• (6) After the installation is complete, exit Maintenance mode Disable maintenance modes.
• (7) Start the application layer

Step3.4 exception handling during patch installation

• (1) During patch installation, if you encounter a shutdown or exit Maintenance mode and re-enter Adpatch, the system will ask if you want to continue with the patch installation process that was interrupted before.
• (2) Midway if a worker failure results in an installation outage, you can open the Environment Variables Command window, run the Adctrl tool, view the status of the worker, and then fix the failed Worker,restart worker to resolve the problem.
• (3) General steps: The number 1 to view the worker status; Number 3 Enter the worker number of the failed worker to quit; Number 2 Enter the worker number of the failed worker to make it restart.
• (4) If you encounter an issue that is not always resolved, select the implied item 8,skip the current job and let the worker continue to work. As a DBA, you should not use implied items 8
