What is virtualization?
Virtualization is a broad term. Different industries have different understandings of virtualization. Different people have different understandings of virtualization, so there is no standard definition. However, in any case, the essence of virtualization is to divide existing computer resources into several computer resources through virtualization technology, which are independent of each other. The ultimate goal is to improve the utilization efficiency of computers and maximize the flexibility of computers.
There are many definitions of virtualization. The following are some definitions.
Virtualization represents the process of computer resources in a way that users and applications can easily benefit from, instead of expressing these resources in a proprietary manner based on their implementation, geographic location, or physical packaging. In other words, it provides a logical view of data, computing power, storage resources, and other resources, rather than a physical view.
Virtualization refers to the process of representing the logical groups (or subsets) of computer resources, so that they can be accessed in ways that benefit from the original configuration. The new virtual view of such resources is not limited by the physical configuration of the real, geographical location or underlying resources.
VMware vsphere virtualizes and summarizes the basic physical and hardware resources between multiple systems, while providing a large number of virtual resources for the data center. Virtualization is a process that breaks the hard connection between physical hardware and the operating system and applications running on it. After the operating system and applications are virtualized in the vsphere virtual machine, they are not constrained by the existence of resources on a single physical computer. Virtual equivalents of physical elements (such as switches and storage) run across the virtual infrastructure of the entire enterprise.
Through the above definition of virtualization, we can find that virtualization may mean different things for different people, depending on their work environment. However, the nature of Virtualization has not changed, so virtualization represents a huge trend and leads the development of the IT industry.
