Workstation: Single level, used in personal desktop system, requires operating system support
Servier: Workgroup level, for server, requires operating system support
ESXi: Enterprise level, for servers, no operating system support required
Workstation, Server: An application on Windows or Linux that must have a host operating system installed to install Workstaion or server before the virtual machine can be installed
ESXi: is a standalone virtual machine that can be installed on a bare metal and then installed on a virtual machine.
ESXi itself is an OS that can be installed directly without the need for other OS to do low-level systems, while both server and workstation require an operating system to support
Workstation is for developers, with a general performance
Server is for enterprise users, performance for workstation has a great boost
ESXi is used for carrier-grade enterprises, and performance is the best
