Summary:
This article describes the use of open source chart components Visifire to present data in a cube under Siverlight. Because the cube structure itself is complex, this article uses one-dimensional query results, focusing on methods from OLAP to the Silverlight side.
Environment Overview:
This article uses the Silverlight 2,visifire version of 2.0.4 Beta. The SQL Server version of the cube is 2008, and the cube used in the example is the Microsoft Sample cube Adventure Works DW 2008, which is recommended for complex cube queries aspnetx only in tabular form, so as not to make the chart look messy, It is recommended that you use a simple one-dimensional sequence, so in this cube this article uses the following MDX statement as a demonstration:
SELECT [Measures]. [Reseller Order Count] on 0,
[Product]. [Category].members on 1
From [Sales Targets]
Its query results are as follows:
Why do you use Visifire?
In fact, there is already a Chart component in the Silverlight toolkit of Microsoft, but the author thinks its effect is not as good as visifire, and every data point datapoint in Visifire can be clicked, this is important when doing BI related project, Because operations like drill down/up and drill throught to detail rely on this to implement.
