Display aspect ratio and remote control adjustment

(I just learned from the experiment....)

The size of the video decoded by a DVD or movie disc is always fixed. For example, NTSC DVDs are always 720x480 (not necessarily, but you can think so). The ratio is. However, it is worth noting that the modern DVD player and TV have strong image processing functions. You can adjust the video display ratio through some settings to achieve the best video watching effect.

Let's take a practical example! Assume that there is a DVD player, and its remote control can set the ratio of or. There is also a high-definition digital TV ), its remote control can also set the screen display ratio of or; there is another ntsc dvd, and its scene content is, however, because it is coded to a 4-3 ratio on a DVD disk, black borders are added to the scene content during encoding. When this DVD disc is inserted into the player for playing, it is likely that there are black borders around it. Although the scene content remains a good ratio, it is curled up in the middle, strange!

In this case, use the player remote control to set the video output. As a result, player performs digital processing on the image decoded by dvd, removes the two black edges, and only outputs the scene content. Unfortunately, the TV set connected to the player still works in a 4-3 ratio display mode, so the TV is connected to the received video image for a conversion from. (Various TV sets may be processed differently: some TV sets can be detected immediately and automatically adjusted to the display mode at, and some may add black edges to the image output by player, some may cut the left and right sides of the player output image and then zoom in globally. We assume this is the last case ). Since the TV directly supports the display at, it is completely unnecessary for the TV to convert the images from. Next, use the remote control of the TV to set the ratio of the screen. The final result is that the content of the DVD scene at is fully filled with the screen of the entire TV, without any black borders. It looks so cool !!!

Experience Summary: If you find black borders around the scene when playing a DVD disc, you can adjust it using the player or the remote control of the TV.
