SOAP transport Protocol
The client request and the Web service respond as a soap (simple Object Access Protocol) message that is transmitted over the HTTP protocol. The SOAP protocol makes the process of information passing between the client and the Web service fully interoperable, regardless of the platform on which the messaging party runs or where the Internet is located. The SOAP protocol is based on XML, referencing the HTTP request-response model.
1. Define an XML-based envelope that describes the contents of the message and explains how to handle the message.
2. Includes a series of XML-based encoding rules that describe the data type instances of the message internal application definition.
3. Define an XML-based specification that describes how process service requests and result responses are represented.
WSDL standard format
WSDL (Web service Description Language) is a standard format for describing network services in XML. This description includes the name of the service, the location of the service, and how it communicates with the service. The WSDL service description can be published to the network. The GlassFish server provides a tool that can generate a WSDL description of a Web service and communicate with the client in the same way as a remote procedure call.
