Do you know? Three security tactics using WinRAR
1. Reject malicious programs bound with WinRAR
Many Trojans, hard disk bombs, and other malicious programs use WinRAR self-extracting program bundle to disguise themselves. How can we distinguish between normal self-extracting files and self-extracting files bound with malicious programs?
Very easy! As long as you can find that the self-released file contains multiple hidden files, especially multiple executable files, you can determine that the file contains malicious programs. How can we know which files are contained in the self-released file?
A simple identification method is: Right-click WinRAR to release the file, and select "attribute" in the pop-up menu ", in the "properties" dialog box, you will find that there are two more labels than common EXE files: "file" and "comment ". Click the "comment" tab to view the comment content, and you will find out which files are contained, so that you can be aware of them, this is the best way to identify malicious program files bundled with WinRAR.
Another way to prevent malicious programs is to avoid running WinRAR self-extracting programs directly. Instead, right-click "open with WinRAR" in the menu ", in this way, you will find out what exists in the file.
Ii. automatically add the compressed file Password
When using WinRAR to create multiple encrypted packages, you need to set passwords one by one, which is very inefficient. In fact, we can use WinRAR's default compression options to automatically add a self-set password while generating the compressed file.
Click "Options> Settings" in the WinRAR menu and select the "compression" tab. Click "create default configuration", select the "advanced" tab, click "set password", enter your password, and select whether to encrypt the file name as needed.
Click "yes" to save the password. After this setting, each time you use the shortcut menu to create a compressed file, the default password you entered will be automatically added, saving a lot of valuable time. After creating all the compressed files, click "Options> Settings> compression> create default configuration> advanced> set password" to keep the password empty, click OK ". In this way, you must enter your password to open your compressed files on your computer or other computers.
3. Easily disable WinRAR settings
If you do not want others to operate your WinRAR main menu, you can write a registry file. First open notepad. if the system is Windows 2000/XP/2003, enter the following code:
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/software/WinRAR/policy]
Menu = DWORD: 00000000
Settings = DWORD: 00000000
The menu item can be set to 0/1, which is used to disable/allow the WinRAR main menu, and the settings item can also be set to 0/1, which is used to disable/allow the "set" and "select toolbar button" dialog boxes.
Save this text document as nowinrar. Reg, and double-click it to import the reg file to the Registry. Start WinRAR now. The main menu is gone. Press Ctrl + S to bring up the Setting dialog box. Change 00000000 in the above Code to 00000001 and save it as WinRAR. Reg. Double-click the file to import it to the Registry to restore the menu and use the "Settings" window.
