What is a dual-screen display?

Dual-display is a feature available since Windows 98. The dual-display refers to the display of different content on each monitor, or broadening the video or personal view through two monitors.

 

Why use dual-screen display?

• Dual-display can increase the field of view. Multiple applications are running at the same time. You can place them on different monitors, which prevents frequent task switching on the taskbar.
• When applications use multiple sub-Windows, you can drag them to the second display to get more space.
• For Web programming, you only need to set the two monitors to different resolutions to view the performance of your pages at the same time at different resolutions. For programmers, you can view the output result of the program while writing the code.
• If you play a game, the second monitor can be used as a rear-view device, so you don't have to worry about being killed by unidentified people behind you.
• Increase productivity. Both designers and other professionals, such as Web testers, can improve production efficiency.

How to implement dual-display?

You only need to insert the corresponding display in the two jacks. after entering the system, enter the desktop Properties dialog box, you can set the specific properties of the dual display. There are usually expansion slots for laptops. If it is a desktop computer, it is troublesome to install two graphics cards. Of course, if there is an integrated graphics card, you also need to install another independent graphics card.

 

How do I set or switch between two monitors?

1. The general method is to enter the control panel-display-and then you can set it accordingly.
2. Use the shortcut key. The shortcut keys for different laptops and operating systems may be different. The author is a Dell D620 + win7 system. Using win + P, you can easily switch between them, as shown in:

Some laptops may not have the Win key, but only the FN key. The shortcut key may be Fn + F4, or others.

 

What are the limitations of Dual-display?

• The second monitor is the expansion or supplement of the first monitor, but the supplement information is insufficient. For example, in this scenario, I open an editor on display 2. When I press the shortcut key to switch the input method, I have to watch the input method of the first display instead of display it in the second display.
• If improperly used, it will distract you.

Everything has both advantages and disadvantages. Dual-display is no exception. The key is to learn to seek benefits and avoid harm. If it is not suitable for you, do not force yourself to use it. Finally, you need to explain how this is not good. Suitable is the most important.

Some people say that there will be a certain amount of space and hardware costs. Of course, I do not deny it, but if it is used well, it can increase the time cost. After the accumulation of time, the corresponding space cost and hardware cost can be offset, and even it will far exceed the former.

At present, it is indeed difficult for many companies to allocate dual-display devices to their technical staff. The space cost is generally not a major problem, but the hardware cost. Dual-display not only requires multiple monitors, if the company is a desktop, more than one graphics card, the General Company in addition to the artist, developers are configured with integrated graphics card. So whether your leadership can support your choice is indeed a problem.

I have visited the environment of Microsoft's Asian Research Institute's developers, all of which are dual-display configurations. According to a friend who works at Microsoft, Microsoft employees are unrestricted in terms of hardware usage and will be satisfied as long as they are proposed.
