What is Class F?
Seagate hard drives are designed with a number of modules in mind and different levels of instruction to facilitate the memory and management of development engineers. Class F is the level that works only in the circuit board mode, which is not dependent on the disk body itself.
Which disks will appear in Class F?
Cool fish in the Five Dynasties and after the plate will appear F class. The initial hard disk control system is generally relatively simple, the volume of the code is relatively small, the corresponding instructions are generally stored in the circuit board ROM inside, so there will be no F-class. Since cool fish Five dynasties and and after the disk, the code is getting bigger, the existing ROM of the circuit board can not be fully loaded, and manufacturers do not want to increase production costs, so the code is dispersed in the hard disk and circuit board ROM inside. If the hard drive is not able to read the distributed code successfully, the hard disk can only work in the circuit board mode, then there is an F class.
What happens to the hard drive will go to Class F?
1, the hard disk head damage;
2, the hard disk has a physical error;
3, the hard disk disc damage;
4, the circuit board loading error, the firmware position is incorrect;
5, firmware error;
The above situation is likely to make the hard drive into an F-class, so the impact of the hard disk becomes F class is a variety of situations. But the reason for the F-class is that the ROM code on the Board
The firmware code on the disk body does not match the result.
7200.10 of the F-level repair with 7200.7 of the F-level repair There is a little different place, the following is a Seagate 7200.10 disk for example (Model:st380815as,sn:5qz3ele6,fw:3.aad) to illustrate.
The following thread replies to see

Attach the hard drive to the terminal, connect all the lines, open the efficiency source Seagate Specialized Program B series 3.0, view the status of the hard disk, display as busy.
Click the "Other Actions" panel, enter the instruction mode, click the "0FF" button, then click "On" to see the information displayed when the hard drive starts.
From the red box you can see that the current state of the hard disk is under the F-level. And you can err on the wrong note a6:app
Code knows that the app code for the hard drive is incomplete. In the future, many F-class hard drives can use error codes to determine the cause of the problem preliminarily. For example err A5 the same is the app error, but this error is different from the previous one, this means that the app checksum is not correct. This is mostly the code checksum of the ROM and app does not match.
For 7200.10 of the hard drive on the board there is a 25-beginning eight-foot ROM chip,
In order for the firmware to match, it is recommended to use a good set of firmware, including ROM and all other modules for F-class calibration. Of course, if you use the original disk firmware to do F-class, you can no longer write ROM.
Here we use the firmware of the original disk to do the F-class. First should be loaded from the hard disk, so that the repair terminal can read the basic parameters of the hard disk information, mainly the need to identify the hard disk family. The hard drive family is based on the code in the ROM on the hard drive circuit board. As follows
The type in the red box is the series model supported by the current efficiency source Seagate repair Terminal. Normally, the series of hard drives can be automatically identified after loading from the hard drive. But it is not recognized in the, because K10 's hard drive is divided by series + head count. This series can be displayed in the instruction mode, power off, to see its starting display information.
Because now the state of the hard disk is in the F-class mode, we need to manually select the hard drive series, this hard disk is a single-head disk, so choose NHAWK1HD.
When you're finished, you'll need to load the module into the hard disk's memory before starting the calibration. Go to the Boot management panel. Manually select the path where the module needs to be loaded.
Then click "Load all Modules" and "Load all modules" is the previous
"APP", "CERT", "CERT
Tab "A collection of three features. The following is a single module load to illustrate the functionality of each module.
"App" loads, you can load the app module onto the hard disk's board and go to T-level mode. This completes the f> turn t>. If you cannot go to t> instructions, boot
The app module has a problem with ROM that does not match. Enter the instruction mode and press ENTER to see:
Then load the Cert module
CERT module is mainly used for the support of instructions, Seagate hard disk Many instructions, you must first load the CERT module before you can use. To verify that the cert is valid, you can enter V4 at the T-level to view the Glist table. If the content can be displayed, it indicates that cert is valid.
As shown below, the CERT is invalid and needs to be replaced by a firmware reboot. T>v4
Command inactive-no VALID Cert Code detected
Last load Cert TAB, this is the calibration process table, including the calibration process catalog.
In instruction mode, go back to C > mode and enter D to bring up the process map.
Conversely, the Cert tab is invalid, and you need to change the firmware to boot.
"Load all modules" is the one-time loading of these three modules completed, the middle does not stop.
After the three modules have been successfully loaded, they enter the instruction mode and need to be manually turned on for calibration. Go back to T-level instruction mode, enter "n50,,22" carriage return, change the value of age to 50, or set the hard disk's working level to 50.
Enter ";" To view the age value of the current hard drive. And then enter "#" or "#,
22 ", enter an SN number for the hard drive.
The first "Enter drive S/n" must enter a correct SN number and then enter, because the SN number will determine the number of heads on the calibration. The two or three digits of the SN number of the Seagate hard drive determine the number of heads used on the hard drive, and the SN numbers for different series of drives are not the same, please see other technical articles for more information. "Packwriter S/n" This parameter can be arbitrarily entered or not input also can, press ENTER end.
Manually enter "N02,,22" and set Age to 02, which is where the process begins.
After completion, press the combination key ctrl+t, the hard disk will start from 02 to run the calibration.
The display calibration has started, but the different series of hard drives display the information differently. It is important to note that K8-K10 's hard drive does not power off during calibration or class F.
When the hard drive ran 4, 5 hours later, into the command mode, see whether the flow of the show has been to T>, if the t> to see the value of age, see if the value of age is 99, 4F, or 4E
If age shows 99, you need to manually enter "n10,,22" and then use Ctrl+t to run the drive back to the calibration. This is based on the process of the hard drive to determine the number of processes to be followed. Some disk process after 99 is not 10, it is necessary to determine the specific circumstances of the hard disk.
If the end is 4E or 4F. It is recommended to re-switch the firmware to do the F-class.
When the hard drive has been running for more than more than 10 hours, enter instruction mode, point ";" To see the value of age, if age is 4E or 4F end, you need to manually go back to 50. Mount it from the hard drive, and then write back the ATA and info modules. If age is 50, load it directly from the hard drive, write back the ATA and info modules
