There are several basic ways to clear the search history. And starting with the 0.42e version, emule has added options in the settings, allowing users to choose to turn AutoComplete on or off, while also adding the ability to purge search history. You can pick one of your favorites from the following methods:
1. This method clears the search history (not actually deleted) and can turn on/off the AutoComplete feature. This method is suitable for 0.42e and higher versions!
Turn autocomplete (History feature) on or off as needed in the options-> display. If the AutoComplete feature is turned on, you should click the "Clear" button in the search interface. By doing this, all search histories will not be automatically displayed, but are actually still stored in the Ac_searchstrings.dat file in the Config directory.
2. This method can clear the search history. This method also applies to less than 0.42e version!
The search history is cleared by moving the mouse over the search input box and then pressing the Ctrl+del key.
3. This method can clear the search history. The following must be done after closing emule! This method also applies to a version below 0.42e!
In the Explorer, enter the emule config directory and use Notepad to open the Ac_searchstrings.dat file. All search histories are saved in this file, so you can erase the corresponding search history by simply deleting some or all of the entries.
4. This method can turn off the Auto-complete function. The following must be done after closing emule! This method also applies to a version below 0.42e!
In the Explorer, enter the emule config directory and open the Preferences.ini file. Search the Useautocompletion=1 field and change to useautocompletion=0 (change 1 to 0), and then close the file. This will shut down the AutoComplete feature the next time you run emule.
