In the past two days, many friends told me that Google has opened the right to register Google Mail globally. I have confirmed that at least registration is not available in China. Since Gmail was launched three years ago, most countries have been applying to use Google's Gmail service. You need to apply for an invitation through an existing Gmail user or text message, to get a registered account of Google.
After investigation, we found out the message "Gmail global open registration.
The original source of the message was in Gmail's official help documentation (the evening of February 7) the message clearly stated "anyone in the world is now welcome to create a Gmail account at http://mail.google.com/mail/signup. Enjoy! (Anyone in the world is welcome to create a gmailaccount at http://mail.google.com/mail/signup )"
However, shortly after the message was published, the official Gmail help documentation was updated (on the morning of June 18, February 8). I changed the content that was previously opened for registration to all users and requested a registration code via mobile phone SMS.
This is the case, but there are still some changes in the registration of Gmail. That is, Google removed the restrictions on Gmail service only for invited users in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Brazil in February 7. Specific Countries are Israel, Poland, France, Portugal, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, Britain, Spain, and Germany. (For more information about Gmail in the UK and Germany) and the countries that Google opened last year: Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Russia, and Egypt. That is to say, users in the above countries can register Gmail directly without an invitation letter.
Therefore, "Gmail global open registration" should be changed to "expanding the scope of Gmail account open registration ".
However, Google officials also said: "Google is expected to change the situation where an invitation is required to apply for an account in other regions within a very short period of time, replacing it with an open Gmail account application system." But I don't know how short it is. In any case, we are looking forward to the comprehensive opening of Gmail.
Gmail issues in Britain and Germany:
Since Gmail trademarks in Britain and Germany are registered by other companies, Google's email service is called Google mail in the UK and Germany, while Gmail is called in other regions. (For details, refer to the failure of Google Germany to lose the Gmail trademark in Europe)
