Failure phenomenon:
When you try to open a Microsoft Office Excel 2007 workbook, you receive the following error message:
Excel found unreadable content in Book_name. You want to restore the contents of this workbook. When you click Yes, you receive the following recovery report:
Number of records deleted: PivotTable report in the/xl/pivotcache/pivotcachedefinition1.xml section (PivotTable cache)
Or, if the workbook is published to the Microsoft SharePoint Web Part report page, the workbook is not rendered.
Additionally, you receive the following error message:
The workbook you selected cannot be opened. The workbook may not be in a supported file format, or it may be corrupted. Do you want to try again to open this file in Excel?
Reason Analysis:
This problem can occur if the following conditions are true:
The workbook contains PivotTable reports that use key performance indicators (KPIs).
KPIs created in the Analysis Services business Intelligence development environment.
The ithe of one or more KPIs with a weight attribute expression.
One or more KPIs have an expression in the current Time member property.
Solution:
To resolve this issue, delete the weight on all current time members and KPI properties for the expression.
