New functions included in ArcGIS 9 Service Pack 2
ESRI, a leader in the GIS software industry, recently announced the network plotting Service (WMS) supported by the Open Geospatial Alliance (ogctm) and ArcGIS 9 Service Pack 2) added new practical functions for clients and servers. In addition, ArcIMS contains an advanced WMS connector.
Ogc wms is an Open GIS Standard Specification for interactive plotting. Generally, it is based on the information required to publish images to servers through the network. The ogc wms client supported by ArcGIS desktop tools allows users to access these services over the network, or add these as layers to their maps. ESRI also provides a WMS provider/service provider and WMS customer/consumer solution.
"ESRI has supported the ogc wms specification since the beginning of release," Jeanne Foust, Global Manager of ESRI's spatial data structure, said. "With the release of ArcGIS 9 Service Pack 2, advanced and core-level support will be provided for WMS specifications."
With ArcGIS 9 Service Pack 2, you can use ArcGIS Desktop products (ArcView, arceditor, and ArcInfo) to access ogc wms without other software. Supports services that comply with ogc wms specifications (version 1.0.0, 1.1.0, and 1.1.1. The ogc wms Service works in the same way as the ArcIMS image service. Similarly,Developers who use ArcObjects can use ArcObjects application software.ProgramInterface to create solutions based on WMS specifications.
ArcIMS 9 Service Pack 2 includes an advancedWMS Connector. This connector includes a network-based management tool that allows you to easily create a WMS service from an ArcIMS service. The WMS server solution is also tested, including its applicability to a set of OGC testing tools designed for wms1.1.1.
