There is an auto Sum button in the toolbar in the worksheet window. With this button, you can automatically sum the cells that are set in the worksheet. The auto Sum button actually represents the sum () function in the worksheet function, which can be used to convert an additive formula to a concise formula. For example, the cell is defined as the formula "=a1 A2 A3 A4 A5 A6", which can be converted to =sum (A1:A6) by using the Auto Sum button.
The general steps for entering a summation formula using the Auto Sum button are as follows:
(1) Select the row in which the value to sum is located or the cell adjacent to the value in the column.
(2) Click the Auto Sum button on the Standard toolbar, or select the target cell, and select the cell or range of cells you want to summarize with the mouse.
(3) Finally press the "Confirm" button.
Sum of adjacent cells for a row or column
The summation of adjacent cells in rows or columns is simple. Just select the cell row or column you want to sum, include the target cell in the selected operation, and then press the Auto Sum button to complete.
For example, the cell "B3:b6" is summed and the result is placed in the cell "B8". First, select cell "B3:b7", as shown in Figure 7-11, and finally press the "Auto sum" button to see the results, as Figure 7-12 shows.
