In the EXCEL2010 worksheet, users can set various types of borders for the selected range of cells. Users can select the 13 most commonly used border types in the Font group in the start Ribbon, or you can select more types of border types in the Format Cells dialog box.
1. Set a border in the Excel2010 "start" ribbon
The Borders list in the Start Ribbon Font Group provides users with 13 of the most commonly used border types, where the user can find the appropriate border in the list of borders, as described in the following procedure:
Step 1th, open the Excel2010 workbook window and select the range of cells you want to set the border.
Step 2nd, in the Font group in the Start Ribbon, click the Border Drop-down button. Select the appropriate border type in the list of borders, as shown in Figure 1, depending on the actual need.

2. Set the border in the EXCEL2010 Format Cells dialog box
If you need more border types, such as a slash or dotted border, and so on, you can set it in the Format Cells dialog box, as described in the following steps:
Step 1th, open the Excel2010 workbook window and select the range of cells you want to set the border. Right-click the selected range of cells and select format Cells on the open shortcut menu, as shown in Figure 2.

Step 2nd, in the Format Cells dialog box that opens, switch to the Borders tab. In the lines area, you can select a variety of line and border colors, and in the Borders area you can click the top border, the border border, the left border, the right and the center borders buttons, or you can click the Slash border button to select a slash. In addition, the Presets area provides three quick set border buttons for none, outer border, and inner borders. Click the OK button when you finish setting, as shown in Figure 3.
